Mindful Moments of the Week #14
Here are this week's set of guided mindfulness practices, both meditation-focused and non-meditative focused practices. Each has a specific theme and narrative surrounding them. This weeks theme is about pausing and focusing on the breath:
Mindful Breathing: Focusing intently on the breath helps to ground us in the present moment. Helping us to escape from our thoughts, give us some space or just simply helping us to relax. In this exercise, we work through mindful breathing exercises [Duration: 6:19]
Simply Stopping: How often do you just pause what you are doing in the day? Pausing gives us the space to reflect. Reflecting helps us to take the appropriate action rather than simply reacting to whatever it is that we face. In this exercise, we explore what stopping is all about and how you can easily create space between a stimulus and your response [Duration: 3:34]
One Complete Cycle of Breath: When we breath we naturally do not focus on every subtlety of each in-breath, out-breath and everything in-between. Yet such a focus is an incredible ground exercise. In this exercise we first explore the in-breath before moving on to the transition from in-breath to out-breath. We then look to the out-breath before finishing with a focus on end-to-end cycles of the breath [Duration: 6:27]
Gratitude is Not the Word: We may say we are grateful. We may practice gratitude. But do we really mean it? Do we feel it? In this exercise, we explore the practice of gratitude and how it makes us feel. The physical sensations associated with the practice [Duration: 3:11]
Three Mindful Breaths: A simple exercise to distance ourselves from the triggers that we may be experiencing, or simply to just give us more space to relax. In this exercise, we first describe the three mindful breaths practice before diving in and practicing it [Duration 4:09]
