The Mulatos Team Received the Silver Helmet Safety Award for the Second Consecutive Year
The Chamber of Mining of Mexico (CAMIMEX) awards the Silver Helmet to mining companies that achieve a high safety standard and the lowest levels of accident rate in the previous year.
For the second year in a row, Mulatos was the recipient of the Silver Helmet Award in the Open Pit Mining category with more than 500 workers, which recognizes systems, policies and programs in place that prevent and address accidents and illness that could be caused by work.
JOSE OMAR BLASCO GASTELUM , Health and Safety Manager at our Mulatos operation, reported that, with the implementation of the safety program and the ISO 45001 health and safety system, which includes an annual diagnosis of training offered, Mulatos is one of the mines with the lowest levels of accidents among its workers in Mexico.
Blasco offered his congratulations to the Health and Safety teams “who promote, manage, and monitor all preventive and corrective safety measures at the mine and continuously work to achieve and advance Alamos Gold’s vision of Zero Harm.”
The team carries out annual studies to detect occupational illness and to take the necessary corrective and preventative measures, and they investigate all accidents so that they are not repeated.
In addition, the Mulatos’ Quality Management Department is proficient in maintaining updated information and administering all health and environmental systems, which leads to more informative decisions and continuous improvements.

Blasco explains that another reason for Mulatos’ high score is the fact that the Ministry of Labor and Social Security in Mexico has included the operation in its Occupational Health and Safety Self-Management Program for two years.
At Mulatos mine, the management team regularly takes time to recognize employees for their commitment to safety, our Home Safe Every Day initiative, and for taking care of themselves.
This is also the message from the President and CEO of Alamos Gold John McCluskey who highlights that, “We’ve made safety the number one priority at Alamos, because everyone across the Company, including our contractor partners, can and should always return home safe to their loved ones.”
Alamos Gold is incredibly proud of our Mulatos team’s achievement and ensuring that all employees and contractors return Home Safe Every Day.
