Our method gets us better content, leads to stronger (and more lucrative) relationships, and we pay nothing upfront to work with these influencers.
This method is called “seeding”.
Here’s how it works.
We send DMs to influencers offering them free product, no strings attached.
We don’t ask them to post it.
We don’t ask for anything in return.
Since our outreach is so genuine, & the product we send them is so good, a percentage of these influencers post it completely unprompted.
They post it because the experience they received from it was so positive and memorable, unlike when brands ask for a promotion right away.
You reach out to 500 micro-influencers offering free product.
Out of 500, 100 respond yes.
And out of 100, 30 will post the product organically, 2-3 times each.
We send them a DM on behalf of the brand telling them we love their content (because we do), and that we want to send them some product.
If they respond, they’ll drop their address and we send it.
We’ll also recommend creating a custom unboxing experience just for them so that they know that we want to start a real relationship with them.
Include a handwritten note or postcard from PostPilot and say something personal on there.
When you actually put a bit of effort into your approach, the likelihood of them posting is much higher.
They film their unboxing because of how awesome the experience is. And unboxing videos are some of the best types of videos to promote a brand.
When they post, we use a platform like MightyScout to capture the content.
We then politely ask them if they’re willing to let us use the content that they created as an ad.
A majority say yes free of cost because of how we started the relationship.
We then run their content as ads, and because it’s so authentic and unique, these become top-performing assets.
Influencers will also be onboarded as affiliates and earn a lofty commission on any sales they generate organically. They can earn $2-5k per month from these deals.
You just created an awesome relationship with a few dozen influencers in less than a month.
You’re both making money.
And you didn’t pay their initial post fee. This simply cost your COGS.
