*That never happens*.

Steven Hoffman (Captain Hoff) said something on an interview that really stuck with me:

“I have one rule that applies, you can never create demand. A lot of people believe that all these people will suddenly realize that what you're doing is what they want.

I'll tell you in the real world, *that never happens*.

Every great product that broke through - the demand was already there.

Now people might not have known they wanted it until they saw it. And they might not have been able to even tell you what they wanted. But, as soon as it came into being, the demand was already waiting for it.

So really great entrepreneurs don't focus at the beginning on just building a product, what I'd say they are demand hunters

2006 Oris Watch Original Carlos Coste Ltd Edition only 2000 made. They were at a relatively large premium over std range but were first to sell out. Exclusivity is valued in certain products. Nike shoe market also crazy for limited editions but not my interest.

I agree you can’t create demand but you can influence it, e.g. limited editions; be that for sneakers or luxury watches.
