New horizons: charting your course into 2024!
Today, I want to start with a shout out to Stephanie Terro , she has successfully transitioned from our #SkillBridge program to a director role in our team at AllegiantVets , which is a testament to where courage and well-set goals can lead. Stephanie, thank you for everything you do day in and day out, you are a Rock Star!
As December rolls us towards the close of the year, it's a great time for reflection and forward-thinking. Let me take you back to a pivotal moment early in my journey – sitting in TAPS, tasked with setting goals. I remember breezing through it, jotting down things without much thought, engulfed in uncertainty and apprehension – reminiscent of my first day at boot camp. I was at a loss on where to begin. This experience, I believe, is something many of you can resonate with as you navigate the transition from military to civilian life.
Reflecting on my career, I often think about the advice from my mentors about the importance of self-reflection and personal planning. It's like what we often heard in the Marines, “proper prior planning prevents piss poor performance.” But why didn’t I apply this to my life outside "Marcus the Marine"? The truth is, I didn't really know who I was beyond the uniform.
As we move towards the new year, it's the perfect time for each of us to dive into our own self-discovery. To explore what truly makes us tick outside our military identity. That’s why I created the Allegiant Transition Workbook – a tool to help navigate the sometimes-murky waters of personal transformation. Check out the workbook here.
Learning from my past, I now see the immense value of SMART goal setting. I challenge each of you to join me in this practice. Ask yourself – what are my aspirations for the coming year? Who are the people that can help me achieve them? Share your goals and thoughts with us. Let’s help each other on this shared path to success.

Marcus Haney
