Niching = Leaving Money On The Table?
Does going all in on your niche of genius make you feel like you’re leaving money on the table?
I hear this from almost everyone I speak to.
There’s a fear that by narrowing down to one specific area, you’ll miss out on opportunities elsewhere.
It feels like you’re turning your back on your hard-earned skills, your years of experience, and your passions.
And I get it.
This fear is common.
It came up again in last week’s challenge, as it does in nearly every challenge I run.
I ask participants to pinpoint their niche of genius—the very thing they’re going to lead with in the marketplace.
It sounds straightforward, right?
But the moment they start narrowing down, the anxiety sets in.
They begin to worry:
“What about all the other skills I have?”
“Am I abandoning everything I’ve worked for?”
“If I focus on one thing, will people see me as less valuable?”
I hear this all the time.
And you know what?
It’s not surprising.
We’ve been conditioned to believe that casting a wider net will catch more fish.
That saying "yes" to everything will bring in more clients, more opportunities, more success.
So when I ask you to niche down and own your genius, it feels counterintuitive.
It feels like you’re shutting doors rather than opening them.
But here’s the truth:
When you try to be everything to everyone, you end up being nothing to no one.
When I ask you to focus on your niche of genius, I’m not asking you to leave your skills behind.
I’m not telling you to ignore your experience, your passion, or your expertise.
In fact, I want you to bring all of that to the table.
What I’m really asking is for you to package it in a way that makes your ideal clients stop and pay attention.
Your ideal clients don’t need to know everything you’re capable of right away.
They just need to know that you have exactly what they need.
Imagine this:
Your ideal client stumbles across your LinkedIn profile.
What do they see?
Do they see someone who’s trying to do it all—someone whose messaging is all over the place?
Or do they see someone who speaks directly to their pain points?
Do they immediately recognize that you’re the one with the solution they’ve been searching for?
The more they dive into your profile and consume your content, the more they’ll see the full depth of what you offer.
All those skills.
All that experience.
All that passion.
It doesn’t disappear.
In fact, it enhances the value you bring.
Your niche of genius is the hook that draws them in.
It’s what makes them stop scrolling and say, "This is exactly what I need."
And once you have their attention, that’s when the magic happens.
Now, I’m not going to sugarcoat it:
Finding and fully owning your niche of genius isn’t always easy.
It can feel uncomfortable.
It can feel like you’re making a big leap of faith.
But that discomfort is exactly what’s going to set you apart from everyone else trying to do all the things.
Here’s the reality:
If you don’t get clear on your niche of genius, you’re just another face in a sea of experts.
You’re competing on the same level as everyone else, struggling to get noticed, hoping that someone—anyone—will pick you out of the crowd.
You blend in.
And blending in is the fastest way to miss out on the clients you really want.
You know the ones:
The clients who see your value, respect your expertise, and are willing to pay what you’re worth.
Without clarity, you stay stuck in a constant hustle, saying yes to every opportunity that comes your way, even if it’s not aligned with what you truly want to do.
It’s exhausting.
And it’s unsustainable.
But when you find your niche of genius—when you own it—everything changes.
Suddenly, you’re no longer chasing clients.
They’re finding you.
They’re reaching out because they’ve seen your content, connected with your message, and know that you have the exact solution they’ve been searching for.
You stop wasting time on people who aren’t a good fit.
You stop feeling like you have to prove yourself over and over again.
Instead, your niche of genius speaks for itself.
It shows potential clients that you’re the authority, the expert, the solution.
And when they see that?
They’re willing to invest in working with you.
So how do you get there?
How do you fully own your niche of genius and start attracting the right clients?
First, you have to get clear.
You have to strip away the distractions and hone in on the one thing that you can do better than anyone else.
The one thing that lights you up.
The one thing that you know will create massive transformation for your clients.
And yes, it can be challenging to do this on your own.
That’s why I created my challenge.
It’s designed to help you not only identify your niche of genius but to own it.
To get clear on what you bring to the marketplace and how to position yourself so that your ideal clients can’t help but notice you.
Because when you get clear, everything else falls into place.
You stop feeling like you’re leaving money on the table.
You stop feeling like you have to hustle for every client.
Instead, you start attracting the right clients—the ones who are ready to pay for your genius.
Imagine what your life would look like if you could finally let go of the fear of missing out and fully own your genius.
Imagine what it would feel like to have clients reaching out to you, eager to work with you, because they know you’re the solution they’ve been looking for.
That’s what happens when you stop trying to be everything to everyone and start focusing on your niche of genius.
So if you’re ready to take that step, I invite you to join my next challenge:
www.unleashinginfluence.net/challenge_signup
Let’s get clear on your genius and start attracting the clients who are ready to invest in it.
You’ll no longer be chasing opportunities.
You’ll be creating them.
And that’s where the real transformation happens.

2moDr. Angela Mulrooney, this resonates! It's like the classic paradox of choice - too many options lead to paralysis. When you try to serve everyone, you end up resonating with no one. Focusing on your niche allows you to become THE go-to expert, attracting ideal clients who are truly aligned with your zone of genius.

2mo. 𝐋𝐎𝐕𝐄 𝐓𝐇𝐈𝐒, Dr. Mulrooney 1️⃣ Sometimes leaving money on the table is not a bad thing. 2️⃣ Like you said, if someone owns their niche, the clients come to you and money is ALMOST NEVER part of the conversation - - other than, "How do you want me to pay you?" 3️⃣ Your focus is on ONE THING, not multiple, in some ill-thought-out attempt to be all things to all people. 4️⃣ Most people who do this are EARNING MORE and WORKING LESS. #GuruRichard says: I dig this. Hope you have a great weekend. .
