Now Hiring: Enviro Tech Jobs

Now Hiring: Enviro Tech Jobs

There are tens of thousands of laid off workers, and many environmental technologies (enviro tech) organizations are actively hiring for various roles from engineers and coders to project managers, among many others. Financial support from investors and the government primed this area for continued workforce growth. In the business world, environmentally-focused growth is blossoming. Hiring is happening!

A Global Effort

This year, the World Economic Forum outlined 10 global risks that will most impact the world in two years and the next decade. Half of the risks are environmental. While further mitigation and adaptation action is needed, some progress deserves the spotlight.

At COP27, over 150 countries agreed to reduce methane emissions. During COP15, nearly 200 countries committed to protect 30% of Earth’s nature and restore 30% of ecosystems. The United Nations (UN) announced that current policies could lead to the ozone layer’s full recovery by 2040. The coming months are set to bring more updates on environmental progress, including events such as the UN 2023 Water Conference and IPBES 10.

The workforce plays a significant role in addressing this crisis, and we’ve already begun seeing a demand for environmentally sustainable jobs. The enviro tech industry is booming with a tsunami of funding. Startups raised $5.6 billion in the first half of 2022 and have a projected worth of $1.4 trillion in 2027. Additional funding for this industry is coming via the U.S. Inflation Reduction Act. Enviro tech job opportunities are abundant and expected to increase.

Hiring During a Time of Layoffs

Job elimination became prevalent in recent months, and layoffs continue in the first quarter of 2023 with new announcements occurring frequently. Now job seekers from various backgrounds are searching for promising, new jobs.

As demand in the enviro tech industry rises, further growth is on the horizon. Since August 2022, organizations announced over 100,000 environmentally-focused jobs. Further, there are nearly 100 new clean energy projects in over 30 states. By 2032, there will be around 900,000 annual jobs in enviro tech. For professionals who have never considered this industry, it’s an ideal time to explore this field.

For those interested, Rose International connects individuals with the jobs that are right for them. Entering the Enviro Tech Industry

Identifying skills relevant to other industries is crucial when considering entering a new field. Evaluating and augmenting qualifications are invaluable steps. Capabilities applicable to enviro tech include:

Soft skills

  • Sales
  • Legal
  • Communications
  • Emotional intelligence
  • Marketing and public relations
  • Problem-solving and critical thinking

Hard skills

  • Product management
  • Software development
  • Industrial product management
  • Analysts for data, supply chain and others

Contingent work provides value for job seekers, including flexibility, remote or hybrid work possibilities, workforce reentry, new skills and more. This way of working allows individuals previously employed in other areas to determine if the enviro tech industry aligns with their career goals.

With many organizations assessing interactions with Earth and measuring impacts on the environment, professionals are also evaluating how they can be part of positive environmental change. The enviro tech industry is welcoming professionals with open arms with thousands of job postings.

This reshuffle from one industry to another was recently referenced as a “great rotation” in Bloomberg. With financial support from the government and venture capitalists, some say enviro tech has safeguards to protect it from recessionary effects such as layoffs. The future looks bright and green for organizations and professionals aiming to create a more environmentally sustainable world for all.

I truly love the insight shared here, and I believe the enviro tech industry will definitely keep increasing, reason being that technology is gaining grounds all over, and the environment we live in keeps suffering from diverse challenges that need timely mitigation strategies, which also fit in the technological evolution happening all over.
