🏋️‍♀️ Over 40's Shift Your Focus From Losing Weight to Building Muscle 💪

🏋️♀️ Over 40's Shift Your Focus From Losing Weight to Building Muscle 💪

If you're a woman over 40, you likely grew up during a time when the ultimate goal was to be skinny. It didn't matter if you were "skinny fat" (lacking muscle tone), as long as the scales tipped in your favour, you were set. I'm from that era, and I understand how challenging it is to shift this mindset. Despite being deeply ingrained in this belief, I now recognize these thoughts as mere distractions from what truly matters.

When we think about muscles, we often focus solely on their role in strength and mobility. However, muscles are much more than just the framework of our bodies—they are powerhouses of our metabolism. Muscles serve as the largest organ in your body, acting as a crucial metabolic hub. They store amino acids, help combat inflammation, and are the primary site for glucose metabolism. This is vital for reversing insulin resistance and can aid in preventing or managing chronic conditions such as diabetes and cognitive decline.

Muscle mass is not just about looking fit—it’s about being fit and healthy at the deepest cellular level. The risks of low muscle mass extend far beyond not having enough strength; they include serious health risks such as osteoporosis, sarcopenia, Alzheimer's, impaired cognitive function, fatigue, and weakened immunity—all exacerbated by inadequate muscle to support and protect bone structure.

Moreover, muscles produce hormones and proteins, like myokines, during physical activity. These substances have far-reaching effects, interacting with fat cells and even signals from your microbiome to influence how your brain and body function. This biochemical communication network is vital for maintaining health and preventing disease.

Let’s build muscle, enhance our health, and empower our bodies to operate at their best. This isn’t just about changing how you look—it’s about changing how you live and age.

So, how do we achieve this? Start by incorporating three weight training sessions per week and maintaining a high-protein diet. Comment below or DM me if you'd like a free health and fitness consultation to get started on your journey.

I knew that about Alzheimer's disease and it's good to hear it confirmed again. I sometimes doubt my senses.
