Overcome the year-end blues with these 7 Self-Care Ideas

Overcome the year-end blues with these 7 Self-Care Ideas

If you're battling with daily fatigue, it's a sign you've got to map out how to unwind.

This time of the year we are all feeling fatigued. We feel we've got to give it all in this final stretch, am I right? Well, I'm here to tell you that you could consider this option as well:

focus on your top priority before the year ends, and ditch the rest...

After working all year long, eating on the run, skipping the gym, taking care of your family and having little time to relax, it's normal to feel exhausted.

And what's important is to realise that this sensation makes you less productive and less happy.

So, why not prioritise this time of the year to begin a self-care map that allows to wrap up the year taking care of yourself, the business, and the family consciously, and gives room to relax, recharge and refuel for the next year. It's just a couple of weeks after all!

Here are 7 ideas to consider now, as the month unfolds and you begin to slow up:

  1. Get more sleep. What if you test how it feels to add one more hour of sleep to your day. Instead of sleeping in, try going to bed one hour earlier with a conscious bed routine that excludes screens and includes unwind.
  2. Go for long walks. If you've wanted to go for a walk with your colleagues after lunch, and with your family after dinner, there's still time. Book it in your calendar, invite them to join you in advance, and set a timer that helps you celebrate your goal. Walking after a meal is a great routine to improve digestion, and doing it with others extends your social impact, win-win!
  3. Eat more veggies and ditch the guilt! Instead of resisting the delicious meals that correspond to this time of the year, plus all of the end of year dinner parties, after office social drinks and Christmas market treats, rather focus on doubling down on your veggie intake. It will help balancing the sugar intake, digestion and weight.
  4. Gift yourself some ME time. What's your favourite hobby? Or, what's that one thing you wish to achieve before the year ends- by yourself? Having some ME time allows for room to be silent (most likely), go within, and become an observant of your beautiful life. Such practice tends to be the hardest because we believe "we're needed". However, if we plan for it you'll see how others will also recharge from the experience. For example, I've got 5 new books ready to head up the mountain with us during the holidays. As much as my kids and my husband will be around, I plan to unplug in pockets of time with my reading, and they know it.
  5. Book a massage. Yes! Let the lymphatic system drain some of that fatigue and connect with your body, as you disconnect from your mind. When was the last time you booked yourself for a massage? Well then, it could be your Christmas gift this year. But don't wait for santa to bring it by, book today and get there soon!
  6. Breathe in nature. There's no better medicine to heal fatigue than breathing in nature. And, it could start by sitting in your balcony, your porch, your garden. And, if time permits and budget allows head over to immerse yourself in nature. And, when there, practice this simple exercise - square/box breathing -. Inhale to a count of four, hold for four, exhale for four, hold for four. And carry on, repeat at your own pace.
  7. Practice gratitude with your loved ones. End of year reflections and gratitude with our loved ones is easy and contagious because we're all in the same wave link. So, why not ride this wave of love that's in the air to practice gratitude and reflect on what has served, what you'd like to double down on and what can easily stay in 2022.

Begin today, do it now, try not to wait for the last days of the month to begin!

Why?

Perhaps you can be the leader, demo self-care for your team and your loved ones.

The end of the year is right around the corner, and what if you'd like to repeat any of the 7 ideas, you'll still have time if you begin now.

And better yet, what if you inspire others to tag along and take care of themselves, win-win!

Breathe. Inspire. Work higher. Slow Up, friend!
