Patience for Success
Relationships are a big deal if I have to explain what it means working everyday for my own business.
Though the most important part, at least for me, is producing simple domestic products of high quality, good enough to keep the fidelity of regional costumers, that goal could never be achieved stepping on people.
I face plenty of misunderstandings each day when communicating with people. Even though my business is miles away of needing scientific or high tech terminology, people hear me saying something, but it is really obvious that they process some other words inside their minds.
One of the main reasons for disruptive communication skills, is the lack of a wide vocabulary that enriches and raises the level of knowledge and general culture of people. With an increased exposure to electronic games and screens there comes a logical decreased exposure to books, even if we mean e-books. And of course, nowadays we all learn fewer words and have less understanding of the real meaning of those words.
It could seem really nonsense, but let´s all be honest, how many of us have faced broken relationships due to something that was misunderstood, or to a whole chain of misunderstanding of words, or attitudes or gestures, or an absolute lack of them?
Systematically, I need to be really intentional in reminding myself to be patient and repeat to my prospective costumers why I am visiting them, and the benefits of the product I manufacture. I can recognize that failing in being

patient and losing my good manners, would result in losing that costumer with consecutive lower sales volumes for my own benefit. “Is that what I want or need?”-“Absolutely Not!”.
So being patient and respectful is the clue. But, on the other hand, including sarcasm comments hid in indifference, will damage any intention of a successful business relationship.
Occasionally I fail in this, and I immediately recognize that in one only second of stupidity from myself I lost a potential future costumer. Some other times I am the object of a disrespectful and unprofessional attitude from the prospect, and in those situations I am who must be respectful with myself, and do not overvalue the economic rewards, placing that over my integrity and values. My integrity and values are not negotiable.
So, First of all, Secondly and Finally…patience is very important for business. It could mean not only keep successful business relationships with great customers that said “yes” to your products today, but also future yes from those who say “no” today, but you still can keep them in your list of prospects.
