Plan J - in Your Writer's Alphabet

Plan J - in Your Writer's Alphabet

Some folks call it the “come to Jesus Plan.”

Others call it the “Justice Plan.”

But it means the same thing.

When you embrace Plan J you face the facts.

You’re ready to meet your maker (metaphysically speaking).

It’s not the God plan; it’s the J Plan.

So, how do you do it? How do you pursue it?...

You focus on what needs justice in this life and this world.

You ask yourself what small or incremental thing you can write or do that will bring the world a tad closer to making things right.

You focus on what’s wrong in the world…

Then you think, write, and do what you can.

You try to make it right.

Let’s say, for instance, you see that the media twists the facts about topic A or B, or even your favorite candidate for President.

Then you draft an article or essay—even if it’s only a drop in the bucket.

Nonetheless, it could have traction and help bring the truth to light.

As you can see, Plan J may be most appropriate when writing about politics, or the law, or important world events.

But it’s also useful and quite effective in your own personal affairs where you have more sway on the outcome.

One more type of Plan J is seldom used or even discussed.

Yet it’s a most benign and extraordinary Plan J…

It’s about Joy!

You ask yourself (or others) “What brings you joy?”

Then you write about it.

So, before you even try to right the wrongs of the world, take a moment first to ask yourself what brings you joy.

You’ll be glad you did.
