Portugal, Ireland, and Bangladesh in Offshore Wind Spotlight

A 500 MW wind farm project proposed offshore Bangladesh, Portugal to auction off 3.5 GW of offshore wind capacity in the first tendering round, and Ireland plans to put 700 MW more capacity out to tender by the end of the year or early next year. Read more in the latest offshoreWIND.biz recap.

The Irish government has opened a consultation process on the principles for the design of the country’s Phase Two offshore wind auctions under the Renewable Electricity Support Scheme (ORESS 2).

An inter-ministerial working group on offshore wind set up by the Portuguese government as part of the process of organising the country’s first offshore wind tender has narrowed down the initially identified areas to three that would be offered for development later this year.

Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) and Copenhagen Offshore Partners (COP) have submitted an investment proposal to the Government of Bangladesh to develop a commercial, utility-scale offshore wind project valued at USD 1.3 billion off the coast of the Bay of Bengal.
