Steps to Invest in Private Equity

1. Educate Yourself: Understand the different types of private equity investments. Resources like Tony Robbins' book "The Holy Grail of Investing" can provide valuable insights.
2. Understand Your Goals: Does private equity align with your risk tolerance, time horizon, and investment goals? 
3. Network, Network, Network: Because private equity opportunities aren’t listed on an exchange like stocks and bonds, you will need to work a little more to find private equity investment opportunities.

CalPERS is the largest public pension fund in the country, and it manages $372.5 BILLION in assets.

👉 Guess that they announced in March?

"Moving to seize market opportunities and maximize returns from the highest performing asset classes, the CalPERS Board of Administration approved a proposal on Monday to raise the portfolio’s investments into the private markets.

"CalPERS continues to progress with the private asset strategy begun in 2022. The proposal will increase total private market allocations from 33% of plan assets to 40%.

"The CalPERS Investment Office conducted a mid-cycle asset allocation review (PDF) and concluded that private equity remains the asset class with the highest expected long-term total return."

📣 TRANSLATION:

CalPERS believes private equity (an alternative investment class that invests in or acquires private companies not listed on a public stock exchange) will provide the highest expected long-term total return.

💡 Examples of private equity:

• Venture Capital: Investing in startups and early-stage companies with high growth potential.

• Real Estate Funds: Pooling capital to invest in property development projects.

• Leveraged Buyouts: Acquiring companies using a combination of equity and borrowed funds.

These strategies offer potential high returns and allow for significant diversification within your investment portfolio.

I watch what those more wealthy than I do - and notice how they allocate their funds. Success leaves clues. 🕵♂️
