Expressing his sentiments, Bittu took to Facebook to share his resignation letter, stating, "With a heavy heart, after 35 years, I resign from the Congress party." This development comes at a crucial juncture, coinciding with the onset of Lok Sabha Elections 2024 in India.

The initial phase of polling, encompassing 102 constituencies across 21 states and union territories, commenced amidst varying degrees of electoral activity. While the Elections Commission of India (ECI) described the polling as "largely peaceful," certain pockets in West Bengal and Manipur encountered sporadic incidents of violence and firing.

The comprehensive electoral landscape of the first phase included key regions such as Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Rajasthan, Sikkim, Tamil Nadu, Tripura, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, West Bengal, Andaman and Nicobar, Jammu and Kashmir, Lakshadweep, and Puducherry.

This phase marks the commencement of a series of seven phases of Lok Sabha polling, spanning from April 19 to June 1, culminating in the announcement of results on June 4. As political dynamics evolve and new developments unfold, the nation remains engaged in the democratic process, witnessing shifts and transitions that define India's political narrative.
