The Race to the Moon: A Military Perspective on Cislunar Space
In his recent policy paper, Charles Galbreath , Senior Fellow for Space Studies at the Mitchell Institute Spacepower Advantage Center of Excellence, argues for a proactive role by the U.S. military in establishing a foothold on the Moon.
The paper, titled "Securing Cislunar Space and the First Island Off the Coast of Earth," contends that building an infrastructure on the Moon is not just about scientific and economic endeavors, but also about national security and shaping the future of space exploration.
The author emphasizes the current geopolitical climate, framing the return to the Moon as a "new race to the Moon" amidst potential competition from other nations. He advocates for the Space Force to take point in establishing this lunar infrastructure, arguing that a robust military presence will not only safeguard scientific and commercial activities but also set the tone for peaceful and cooperative norms in the cislunar space – the region encompassing the Moon and the space between the Earth and the Moon.
The paper underscores the potential benefits of a lunar presence, highlighting its role in fostering scientific research and economic opportunities. The author envisions a future where the Moon serves as a hub for various activities, from resource extraction to serving as a stepping stone for deeper space exploration. However, he acknowledges the potential challenges, including the need to protect these endeavors from potential threats such as territorial claims and hostile behavior.
In conclusion, the "Cislunar Space Policy Paper" presents a compelling argument for the U.S. military to play a crucial role in shaping the future of Cislunar space.
By establishing a secure and sustainable presence on the Moon, the paper argues, the U.S. can not only safeguard its national interests but also pave the way for peaceful and collaborative exploration of this new frontier. While the paper focuses on the U.S. perspective, it is important to acknowledge that international cooperation and adherence to established space treaties will be vital in ensuring a peaceful and prosperous future for cislunar space exploration.
But first, Spaceplanes and Spacecraft
I represent Titans Space Industries, a new Space company that has been working in stealth mode for the last few years.
We intend to:
However, I'd like to point out the extraordinary military applications of our upcoming spaceplanes and spacecraft that will help the US military and Space economy to leap ahead of the rest of the world.
SpaceX has captured the world's imagination with its incredible Falcon 9 and Falcon Heavy rockets as well as with its upcoming Starship. However, our upcoming spaceplanes will cause a paradigm shift for the US military, NASA, and the Space Force. The spaceplane's high reusability, large payload capacity, and flexible launch options align perfectly with their objectives, especially for missions in Earth orbit - and this includes point-to-point transport (either Orbital or sub-orbital).
The Titans Spaceplane, which we proudly call the Holy Grail of Aerospace, can transport up to 340-350 personnel or up to 100 metric tons of cargo and materials to any place in the world within a 45-90 minute flight. We don't believe the Starship will be able to compete with this if it is capable of P2P transport at all.
We will start testing, development, and manufacturing (including our own powerful rocket engines) from H2-2024 at our upcoming USA facilities, and we think now is the time to make sure that we plan the spaceplanes as per the US military/Space Force requirements. Now is the time to get engaged to design it in the most beneficial, multi-purpose configuration.
Our solution for US Lunar supremacy
Titans Space specializes in simplifying large-scale disruptive Space projects.
We believe our way to colonize the Moon is the most cost-effective and best doable. The following four links concern Titans Space's Lunar settlement plans.
We leave the military applications up to the military and the U.S. government, but it is important to note that no other Lunar settlement plan has taken into account what Titans Space offers: transportation, accommodation, industrialization - a complete end-to-end infrastructure.
Some Background
You will learn from the content we link to below that we focus on simplicity rather than hype.
The following links will be useful to learn about our grand vision:
We have preliminary financial incentives worth several hundred million dollars, and we have agreements in place to start operations, which we're planning for H2-2024.
