The monthly love letter from me to you is filled with gems that will inspire you to put your best self out in the world – leading and serving in impactful ways to get your desired results in this chapter of your career and life.
Hi! I’m Pat Roque, MS (she/her) an expert on best practices for thriving virtual teams...and serial visionary who’s famously known (and hopefully admired) for pushing the boundaries and surpassing my comfort zone. A few of my favorite and most notable roles include: leadership strategist, executive career coach, certified virtual presenter, mom of two amazing adults, wife of 30 years and rescue hero to my fur baby, Bella.

“Life is short, so you’d better make the most of every day.”
Take it from someone who almost died of blood clots in my leg and lungs in July 2019. As I received the last rights (no joke there), I experienced a moment of clarity and peace and gratitude. For the time I had and this wonderful (if not interesting) life. I recommitted to God and myself, knowing if I lived through those first 24 critical hours, there was a reason. My work on earth was not done – not yet.
I knew I had more lives to impact and those in need of my help would gravitate my way. It was time to stop worrying about the “how” and trust the process.
Each day we wake up on this side of the grass is a blessing, another opportunity to make a difference for our personal growth, our families, our careers and community. To get just one step, one percent better every single day.
And so this newsletter is dedicated to YOU, and to all the many who’ve inspired and prodded my growth along the way. Pushed me outside of my comfort zone. Lifted me up when COVID kicked my ass and kept me humble. Thank you…

"Big thinkers gather in small rooms."
It's surely true in our world of C-suite and HR leadership as companies struggle to overcome pandemic recovery challenges.
We're never going back to "normal." We cannot UNSEE what we've experienced over the past two years. Shaken to our core, personally and professionally.
We all hunkered down at home, grateful for the frontline workers who didn’t have that luxury. Mourning those we loved and lost, praying for our children's recovery from this gaping hole in their innocence.
All over the world we united in that feeling of quicksand, unsure how to step forward with no clear end in sight. From CEO to security guard at the gate, we prayed and sanitized, and reimagined what our lives (and careers) would look like.
Now, as we round the corner past year two of the pandemic, we do our best to plan for the next chapter of the unknown. It's not easy, perhaps even downright frustrating and scary.
But there's hope.

The Executive Roundtables (ERTs) were born out of my personal commitment to stop feeling bad and start paying it forward.

One+ years ago I curled in bed, sick with COVID. I dreamt of creating a safe space to think out loud through these unfamiliar challenges. I pinky swear, you are NOT ALONE in your eagerness to find a better way as quickly as possible. I cried, trying to think through my head pounding with pain: Why is God slowing me down? What am I supposed to see? To do?
I called one of my dear friends and mentors, a huge thought leader and global HR head for a top-name consultancy. “I believe in you,” she said. “Don’t wait until you think you’re ready. Let’s move ahead and get one ERT in the books, even if it’s just you and me.”
And so we did. Plus, we had an amazing new friend from JNJ supply chain (who you can imagine was busier than ever getting health care products to the market) join us. We laughed, even cried a little bit. We listened to each other address the enormity of the unprecedented challenges, all under the oath of confidentiality and sharing in a sacred, safe space.
And so the momentum began. First a ripple, now a wave … soon to be a tsunami of positive change.
Once a month we gather chief executives (CEOs, CHROs, Employee Resource Group Officers and other leaders) to lock arms in a 60-minute Zoom session. The rules: no judgment, no pitching, no sales, no vendors. There are no mystery people lurking by phone - attendees keep their videos on, prepared to generously give AND receive.
What to expect? Count on candid conversation, where smart leaders take concerted action by sharing wins and challenges, and brainstorming best practices to attract, engage and keep top talent happy so they STAY.
I bring data to life and give you ammunition to justify your next strategic moves. Our process includes a follow-up momentum meeting with you (and perhaps your colleagues) to dig deeper into your biggest “A-ha!” moment or urgent problems.
