Simplicity in Leadership and Family Bring Long-Lasting Rewards

Simplicity in Leadership and Family Bring Long-Lasting Rewards

I never thought of my mom as a leader.

Until today, her 88th birthday.

Before I called to wish her a happy birthday, I pulled out a letter I had written to her in 1994.

I freaked a bit when I realized I gave this letter to my mom when she turned 60.

I am 60. How the hell did this happen? 😱

For all these years, I never really saw Mom as a leader.

She was a stay-at-home mom with 3 kids. She went back to work when I was 14.

Mom was great with numbers and finance. She worked in a bank. No career path, promotions, or traveling. It was what she wanted and needed. Getting 3 daughters ready for college (and weddings) was no easy fete.

I share this very personal letter that I wrote to my mom for this reason.

Her life screams of leadership, values, communication, loyalty and so much more.

It just took me a while to see it. Maybe this is our family's SWOT analysis (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats). 👀

Who knew?

Today, work is a thing of the past for my mom.

She and my 91-year-old dad are the epitome of a life well-lived. That's what they worked for together.

And it's beautifully heartwarming to see the benefits of their investments.

I am one lucky human being.
