Trauma and the Trauma Code
Welcome to this short lesson on how to manage trauma in your life. Because we all suffer from trauma you are safe to share this with others. Some do pretend that they are not impacted by trauma, but this is not true.
We live with trauma inside of us and we are constantly creating more of it or bringing it up in our mind. It is part of our nature but it is also manageable.
Trauma will always be with us but trauma does not need to control us
What if we could do certain things to manage it better?
What if small behavioral changes could help us master trauma?
There are many different types of trauma. Some are physical, some are psychological and some are so subtle that you do not even realize that you are being traumatized.
Vulnerable Sensitivity
We are not physically or psychologically equipped to protect ourselves from becoming what we are around. What we see and hear is all we know so we have no choice but to become like it. This is called Cumulative Emotional Trauma and this type of trauma is the most dangerous.
All 4 types of trauma affect the subconscious mind. For example, a concussion (Catastrophic Physical Trauma) is a trauma that directly injures the brain, but it also has a psychological effect on the subconscious mind. When any trauma occurs, the priorities of the subconscious mind are disrupted and stress develops.
Without the negative effects of trauma, the mind can be free to experience the kind of joy we often see in young children.
Understanding the Trauma Code to Get Better
The “trauma code” is the disruptive thought patterns that trauma causes in the subconscious mind. The subconscious mind has three priorities:
Anything that disrupts these three priorities is a psychological trauma.
Psychological trauma causes physical changes in the brain that scientists can now see. The brain was once believed to be static, but over the past 20 years, scientists have shown that brain cells are consistently being formed and lost. This ability to build brain cells means that we can take action to recover from the damage that trauma causes and build the brain like we build a muscle.
