How to Help Others for the Rest of Your Life
Helping other people improve their performance all day every day can be easy. Just don't hurt their performance.
REMEMBER
Emotional Control can be our biggest deficit and managing emotional control will pay huge dividends.
When we feel one negative emotion, (anxiety, frustration, anger, etc.) we will feel all of the negative emotions. Our growth and the growth of others around us cannot occur in this negative emotional environment.
When we use a logical system to manage negative emotions, it makes performance easier and more predictable. When we take this responsibility for ourselves, the positive impact on others will be obvious. It creates a positive "BLAST RADIUS" and we prosper.
Helping others does not have to be a huge deal either. Holding a door for someone or simply stopping at a crosswalk qualifies. These are simple things that add up. Get around other people who feel the same positive way as you, and opportunities will present themselves all day every day.
When we respect the priorities of our subconscious mind, we can get our 800 lb gorilla working for us and not against us.
There is no inertia.
CONSCIOUSLY FEED YOUR CORE PRIORITIES
Our subconscious mind controls 95% of us and has only 3 priorities
1. Meeting Basic Needs - Roof over our head, food on the table ...
2. Clarity of Thought - Our brain WANTS to think clearly. Meditation, exercise ...
3. Helping Other People - When we "help other people" we help ourselves.
Let's focus on Helping Other People
We all have an innate desire (need) to HELP OTHERS. Here are a few ideas that can help make this process easier for anyone. Other people are crucial in our lives so we should honour them or help them the best we can.
Hacking Helping Others
Think carefully about how your talents are best suited to contribute to others. If possible, have your helpful efforts revolve around something you enjoy doing and are good at. Having fun and being competent in an activity fits with the second priority of the subconscious mind of thinking clearly.

A common way we can help is just by being there for another person. Offer compassion, humor, respect, forgiveness, loyalty, or, just listen to them. Celebrate their accomplishments or help someone accomplish their goals or their dreams. Teaching or mentoring can help someone develop. Use creative or artistic skills so others can enjoy your work.
You will likely find that you were already contributing more than you thought. This will bring you happiness and energy which is a good thing.
In the words of Ralph Waldo Emerson, “It is one of the most beautiful compensations in life that no man can sincerely try to help another without helping himself.” My story is as much about my personal growth through my trauma as it is about my recovery.
With the backing of 500 scientific studies and my personal experience, I can confidently say that helping others brings personal health benefits. Science also shows that helping others brings longer-lasting happiness than material pleasures or engagement in an activity you like.
It is important to seek happiness through pleasure and engagement, but happiness through meaning is longer lasting and should be a goal.
Lasting happiness can only be achieved through thinking and acting in alignment with the priorities of the subconscious mind. Find the right balance in your life and choose your way to be happy.
Have a great Summer.
