Becoming the tunneling partner of FORCIT.

Forcit Norway had won a blasting delivery contract on a bi-tube tunnel project (7.5 km): the Forbordfjell tunnel in Stjordal, Norway. This project started using another electronic initiation system (EIS). Forcit Norway was looking for a faster, more accurate and safer alternative. Therefore, we presented them DaveyTronic Swift®.

The advantages of this system are:

• Fast EIS for tunneling on the European market.
• A safe, flexible, and accurate EIS.
• Categorized detonators for ease of use like a conventional system.
• One-click testing and programming.

Adopting DaveyTronic Swift® proved to be a great success for Forcit Norway, surpassing expectations in various aspects:

Increase operational efficiency for KOLPA.

Kolpa has a polymetallic mine in Peru. The deposit at the site is of narrow, rosary-type veins. Due to this peculiarity, the detonations in the galleries and sublevels were conducted by selective overcut and fill using non-electrical systems. This method required extraction in 3 mining cycles to supply a truckload of ore (22 tons) with a high-quality product.

We improved the blasting process by adopting DaveyTronic Swift®, enabling high-value ore extraction in a single blasting event. It helped us surpass the ore recovery target (VPT: value per ton) set by the mine. While the goal was 50%, with the implementation of the DaveyTronic Swift®, we achieved an average of 62%. As a result, the value of the recovered ore increased, providing a direct economic benefit of US$169,433 to the operation.

Along with excellent operational performance, the DaveyTronic Swift® contributed to increased safety in the underground operation, reducing vibration and preventing accidents.
