Spotlight on Community Action: Fortunate Foundation Hosts 16 Days of Activism Dialogue
Recently, one of our committed Community-Based Organizations (CBOs), The Fortunate Foundation, hosted a transformative 16 Days of Activism Dialogue in Bankhara-Bodulong, nestled within the Ga-Segonyana Local Municipality. The event, held at the community hall, brought together approximately 200 community members and key stakeholders for a day of reflection, dialogue, and commitment to ending Gender-Based Violence and Femicide (GBVF).
A Day of Purpose and Action
The day commenced with a vibrant activation and awareness march around the block, aimed at rallying the community and amplifying the message of the Karabelo GBVF Response program. Returning to the hall, stakeholders shared invaluable insights on GBVF and highlighted the pivotal roles their organizations play in prevention efforts across Ga-Segonyana.
During the session, stakeholders took a powerful step by pledging their ongoing support to help the community combat GBVF. This collective commitment underscored the significance of collaborative action in tackling this deeply rooted issue.
Empowering Dialogue with the ADKAR Model
Central to the event was a structured dialogue based on the ADKAR Model of Social Behavior Change, a proven framework for addressing societal challenges.

Through small-group discussions, participants collaboratively generated ideas and presented them to the larger group. The insights gathered will guide future efforts, with the local Steering Committee taking responsibility for implementing the solutions identified by the community.

The event concluded with a moving candle-lighting ceremony, a moment of remembrance for those who have lost their lives to GBVF. This symbolic gesture reinforced the community’s collective resolve to honor victims and work tirelessly to ensure a safer, more equitable future for all.
