Symphony Park, Circle Square, Manchester
Circle square is the £750m transformation of the vacated 4ha Former British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) site within the Oxford Road Corridor in central Manchester.
Planit-IE led the design, detailing and overseeing the delivery of the extensive network of pedestrian focussed streets and Symphony Park, a new green space in the city where people can socialise and explore which was also designed to encourage live music events and other activities such as yoga and pop-up food markets to name a few.
Living Landscapes Limited were awarded the soft landscaping package by SISK in October 2019, with the trees programmed to be planted in Spring/Summer 2021. Specimen Trees procured and air potted all of the trees from Germany.
There was a total of 50 trees planted at Circle Square, the majority were 60/70cm girth the remainder a minimum of 40cm. A large number of the Plantanus had to be lifted in by a specialist crane operator due to another trade installing lampposts in their path. All of the trees were expertly planted using the Platipus Deadman Fixing System with Plati-Mat. This prestigious and stunning new city green space was one of the most difficult that Living Landscapes Ltd had been involved with in their 50 years of trading but it paid off when they were awarded the BALI Principal Award at the end of 2022.
