To find your next job fast in 2022/23, you need to take control of your job search.
Think you're already in control?
These are some common job search mistakes that almost all job seekers make (including you) that cause your job search to run out of control ... and delay finding a job:
- No Job Search Project Plan: While many job seekers build lists & spreadsheets (contact lists, target company lists, call back lists), lists are just lists - they aren't a project plan. A job search project plan shows you exactly how you'll meet your job search goals, including: When you'll land your next job, the exact steps you need to reach your goals, and feedback loops to tell if you're going off course. Without a job search project plan, you apply to jobs randomly (hoping you get lucky) without knowing if you're on track or what's not working. After all, when you fail to plan, you plan to fail.
- Using Advice From Outplacement Or Most Career Coaches/Authors: The advice you get from outplacement, most career coaches/authors, gov't/community/church/alumni resources, and your friends/colleagues is based on random applications, volume, and luck. You can't take control of a job search based on hoping you'll get lucky and if you don't, just send more resumes.
- You're Applying Too Late: Most job seekers lose out on opportunities when they're qualified because they almost always apply too late to be one of the top candidates. Instead, when you apply to late, you're hoping that the top candidates all turn down the job, and you get an offer because the HM is down to 4th place.
- Continuing To Do The Same Things That Haven't Working: Wasn't it Einstein who said: "The definition of insanity is doing the same things over and over, hoping for different results"?
