Take the Lead: Have you heard? The riches in the niches.

The old way was to strive for Number 1 on Google but there's a new way in town...

And it's to find your niche.

Quote from Tom Peters reads: OLD: Be No.1 or No.2 in your Market. NEW: Find a Niche, Create Something New.

Definition of Niche - a specialized segment of the market for a particular kind of product or service.

"they believe they have found a niche in the market"

We all hear this time and again, don't we? "What's your niche?"

It's not as simple as that though is it?

This very question can paralyse a business, stopping it in its tracks as the belief then starts to fester, is what they are currently doing not good enough because they don't have a niche?

I say PAH!

Here's what I tell my clients "Remember, your currently serving customers and making money. The next step is to be seriously intentional about what you're serving so you can identify the who. Then you can be seriously intentional with all of your communication activities".

Do you want to be serving burgers or steak? Fries or triple cooked chips...

In a nutshell, sometimes it's really tricky to put a name to the ideal client avatar. Gosh, even I struggle. Because we want to be able to help everyone who needs us. Not anyone who needs us.

It's when we make that distinction that muddy waters begin to clear.

When I work through this element in my coaching programme it is almost always the most frustrating for them. But we come at it from a different angle.

Have you ever reverse engineered your ideal client avatar?

It's a real breakthrough.

Which is why I invited my good friend and work colleague, Jenny Procter of Bondfield Marketing and Host of the Marketing for Introverts podcast, to help unravel this conundrum for us.

My observations and experience are that once you have clarity of what you are offering and who will be dining on it, the conversations flow much better.

My ideal client is as difficult to pin down as the Scots unicorn. I’m not entirely convinced either actually exists 😎Can they be more of an attitude rather than something carved in stone?
