this thing needs a good dusting-off: land use issues need a good dusting off
Yes, I have an original Kyoto Protocol. I was not physically there at that time, but a few weeks later I was at the first IPCC meeting in Senegal discussing all land use issues in the Kyoto Protocol. I had expected discussions, but was surprised by the hundreds of questions that arose. Oeff. And, yes, I have Nobel Peace Prize (with IPCC with a few hundred) from 2007. 10 years had passed, a Special report on Land, and Guidelines further, but many land-use issues remained.
Recently I was dusting off the frame in which the Nobel Prize is hanging, and I thought 'yes, the contents of land use sector also need a good dusting-off'. We do not seem to be able to resolve the land use issues. Additionality, leakage, monitoring issues, costs, trade offs, and many others are still the same. Probably we need bolder action and will need to live with some uncertainty in crediting systems. #parisagreement #kyotoprotocol
