Tired but Truly fit to Serve!

Establish your professional identity early within your careers, and teach your consumers to know the difference.

In conversations, shift the dynamic and reach for a positive outcome. What do I mean? We all have had those discussions with individuals, who clearly had zero concern and just wanted to pry for details as the undisclosed informant. So everyday, I vowed to myself and have educated others, to walk confidently in their purpose and treat every initial encounter like an interview. We never know who's watching.

Example:

IND #1: Hello there, how is your day going?

IND: #2: Hi, ummmh i'm doing okay no complaints here I guess.

IND #1: I see, and you're right complaints can be unsatisfying. So, it's equally important to seek the unknowing, which has not yet transpired or been recorded.

IND #2: Yeah, guess you're right never thought about it like that.

IND #1: Hey, I think I've seen you around. Perhaps it was on the 2nd floor in the department of coding & billing.

IND #2: Yeah, you're right that's where I work. Great observation...I think.

IND #1 Certainly, never a bad thing. It's important for me to watch, listen & learn how my company operates.

IND #2 OMG, you're the CEO of the company! What a pleasure to meet you!

CEO Jones: Likewise, and the pleasure is all mine. [looks at badge] Mrs. Sellers is it?

Ms. Sellers: Yes!

CEO: Good, Ms. Sellers, would have a brief moment to grab a cup of coffee and catch up?

Ms. Sellers: Sure, I'm actually on my lunch break, so it works out perfectly! It's not often that I get the opportunity to have coffee with the company executive at large. So I think I'll indulge and ravish the moment!

CEO: Absolutely!

Summary:

Life is constantly on the move and oftentimes we miss things. However, in this short vignette, we can see how it all unfolded. Much due to the CEO Jones approach, it made a lot of difference in the life of the employee Ms. Sellers. The outcome of which Ms. Sellers never expected, was that she was promoted to Regional Director and tasked with the responsibility, of leading the 4 sites with 3 more under contract to be developed with the next 12-24 months. Case and point is that, even though Ms. Sellers world was caving in, she managed to maintain a positive attitude which after only 5 years pushed her into a new tax bracket, where she now makes 6 figures. Check that! The interesting part is that, she was never the overachieving type, the egotistical jerk, or the archnemesis of any group. She has always and only been herself.

Managers create overwhelming tasks and pushes for 100% effort. Leaders research, observe and listen to the concerns of the people. Understandably, it goes without saying that a product remains a product, one of which could just sit and collect dust. Remember that, we serve as the faces of our organizations not the titles. Titles and labels are given to meet societal standards but the impact is made through involvement. So as we move into a very venerable time of year for many of our consumers, lets STOP, OBSERVE, and ENGAGE. Listen closely, to what is repeated more than once to identify areas to resolve. Build the suspense everyday and release the outcomes every month. Together we watch, and together we grow!
