Today is National Donut Day.
Mmm... Doughnuts...

Today is National Donut Day.

Not to be confused with National Doughnut Appreciation Day, which takes place on November 5th.

What’s the difference?

I’m glad you asked.

See (I’m starting to talk like @prince_ea now), “doughboy” was a widely popular nickname for the American infantrymen during WWI.

As a precursor to today’s “send nudes”, they requested that America “send over some lassies” while stationed overseas in France.

The result? The “doughnut lassie” was born.

These women - heroes all, no doubt - were sent to France to ply the infantrymen with fried dough, in the hopes of bringing about lard-fueled victory.

And THIS, ladies and gentlemen of the jury, is why my lifelong dream is to be at my desk, working away, while someone just hands me hot doughnuts so I can work harder.

Support your local dough factory today, but only if they offer delivery. Otherwise, it’s simply not worth it.

It’s not only an American dream, I would argue that it is *THE* American Dream.
