Round Table Meeting to Enhance Corrections Information Management System (CIMS)

We recently organized a pivotal round table meeting to advance the Correction Information Management System (CIMS) under the RPDN Phase II project, supported by the U.S. Department of State's Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL). This meeting brought together stakeholders to discuss the development and implementation of a new Case Management module. The focus was on assessing the current CIMS, strategizing improvements, and sharing insights for enhancement. Participants reviewed the existing framework, identified strengths and areas for improvement, and formulated strategies to optimize the system. They emphasized leveraging technology to streamline processes and improve data accuracy. The collaborative effort resulted in a roadmap for implementation and key performance indicators to monitor progress.

Teaming Up For A Better Justice System

We recently hosted key figures in the justice sector at a three-day Pro Bono Conference, supported by the U.S. Department of State's Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL). This event aimed to equip lawyers and law clinicians with the essential skills needed to provide pro bono legal aid for pretrial detainees in Nigeria. The conference covered ethics, professional conduct, and practical skills for effective legal aid. Day one focused on the importance of pro bono services, while days two and three featured expert-led technical sessions. This initiative which is part of the RPDN Phase II Project, positioned PPDC as a leader in promoting access to justice through pro bono services and law clinics, fostering collaboration among legal professionals.

Our Team Visited the Suleja Custodial Centre

We visited the Suleja Custodial Center to explore ways to provide support following a recent unfortunate incident at the facility. Through our RPDN Phase II Project, PPDC reaffirmed its commitment to the effective deployment and management of the Correctional Information Management System (CIMS) for a comprehensive inmate database which is crucial for preventing threats to national security. Additionally, we recruited pro bono lawyers to help decongest the facility, further showcasing our dedication to improving conditions and providing essential legal aid.

We Held Our First Access to Justice Consortium Strategy Meeting

We recently spearheaded our maiden Access to Justice Consortium Strategy Meeting. This gathering represented a significant milestone towards a more just future for Nigerians and Africans.

The consortium, comprising PPDC, Citizen Gavel, Hope Behind Bars Africa (HBBA), Law Hub Development and Advocacy Centre (Law Hub), and the Centre for Socio-Legal Studies (CSLS), is committed to fostering an African society where everyone has equal access to justice.

Together, we are dedicated to making this vision a reality. Stay tuned for further updates on our progress and initiatives. For more; Click here

Our Senior Management Team Reflecting and Innovating for the Future

As Brian Tracy once said, "Cultivate the habit of constant improvement in leadership; it is a mark of a true visionary." Embracing this philosophy, our Senior Management Team recently held a retreat to reflect on past achievements and strategize for future success. This retreat provided an opportunity for deep introspection and collaborative planning, ensuring that our leadership remains dynamic and forward-thinking. By focusing on continuous improvement, we aim to inspire and guide our larger team toward greater accomplishments. The insights and strategies developed during the retreat will drive our organization's growth and effectiveness in the coming years.
