The truth about your "business problem"

The truth about your "business problem"

I've been helping Recruitment and Search Firm Owners improve their businesses for many years now… And one thing I've come to realise is that no one really has a "business problem"…

They have life problems that reflect in their business…

Most people run their business by focusing on logical business things like their website, sales skills, building a team etc.…

When they experience a roadblock, they think it's a business problem and they attempt to solve it by focusing on the same things….

This rarely works…

A mentor of mine describes business as a mirror….

As he puts it "Business is holding a mirror up to yourself and looking at the reflection" …

What he means by that is… Whatever habits and behaviours you display yourself will be reflected right back at you in your business…

To give you an example of this….

I have a friend who's an Electrician, a few months back over dinner he was complaining that his customers don't appreciate the value he brings, hammer him on price, and he's constantly being forced to lower his fees (something I hear Recruitment and Search Firm Owners say almost daily)

When I told him to simply charge more and walk away for anyone who isn't prepared to pay… His reply was "but all I do is change lightbulbs" …

His problem isn't that his clients didn't appreciate the value of what he does…

The problem is that he didn't appreciate the value of what he did and so wasn't prepared to walk away from the wrong business…

The same applies to you in your Recruitment or Search Business....

If you can't seem to get your team of consultants to follow through and do what they said they were going to do...

It's likely you're not following through on actions you set for yourself... either in business or in another area of your life..

If you feel like you're constantly having to lower your fees and you're not prepared to walk away from the wrong business, it's likely to be because you don't truly appreciate the value that you bring…

Or you're asking other people to lower their fees when you're buying from them…

If you struggle to get people to make a decision and you keep getting "let me think about it". It's likely you're "thinking about it" when you're buying services for yourself...

Or you're not entirely confident in your ability to deliver, and your prospects can sense it…

People sell the way they buy and buy the way they sell…

More often than not, the problem in your business is coming from your own personal life and is simply being reflected back to you…

Change your habits and behaviours in your personal life, and your business will soon follow…

Be decisive, take action, seek out the best and not the cheapest, be the type of client you want to attract…
