Validation, Freedom, and Permission: Unlocking Your LinkedIn Potential

Validation, Freedom, and Permission: Unlocking Your LinkedIn Potential

Why does showing up on LinkedIn feel so hard sometimes?

You might think it’s because you don’t know what to post or how to structure your content. But often, it’s deeper than that

Any of these resonate?

  • Feeling like your story isn’t “good enough.”
  • Worrying about what others will think.
  • Waiting for some invisible sign that says, “You’re ready now.”

That’s where I come in. When I coach my clients, we don’t just talk strategy — we work on changing the way they see themselves and their value.

And it starts with three powerful shifts: validation, freedom, and permission.

Validation - Your Story Already Matters

You’ve maybe been told, in subtle and not-so-subtle ways, that your voice doesn’t matter. That you’re not enough. That your experiences, your knowledge, or even your personality aren’t “worthy” of being shared.

But that’s a big fat juicy lie!

You are enough. Right now.

Validation isn’t about someone else telling you this — it’s about recognising it for yourself. It’s about understanding that:

  • The things you’ve learned along the way can help someone else.
  • Your voice doesn’t have to sound like anyone else’s to make an impact.
  • Your presence on LinkedIn doesn’t have to be perfect to be powerful.

Try this Action Today

Write down three things you’ve overcome or learned in your career or entrepreneurial journey that shaped who you are today. Then pick one and share it as a post this week. Someone needs to hear that story.

Freedom - Let Go of the Rules

Freedom is what happens when you stop playing by LinkedIn’s “rules.”

You don’t have to sound formal if that’s not you. You don’t have to follow a specific formula if it feels fake. You don’t have to share just your wins or just your expertise.

True freedom comes when you allow yourself to show up as you — fully, unapologetically, and even a little messy.

Because here’s the truth: When you’re real, you connect. When you’re yourself, you attract the kind of people you actually want in your world.

Try this Action

Share a post that reflects who you really are. It could be a personal story, a lesson learned, or even a mistake you made — but do it in your voice, not the polished “professional” one you think it should be.

Permission - Stop Waiting for the Green Light

How many times have you thought: “I’ll post when I’m ready.” “I’ll share that when I’ve achieved more.” “I’ll go all in once I feel more confident.”

Here’s the truth: You don’t need anyone’s permission but your own.

No one is coming to give you the green light. And you’re never going to feel 100% ready. You just have to start — imperfectly, boldly, and fully as yourself.

When you stop waiting for permission, you open the door to opportunities you didn’t even know were possible.

Try this Action Today

Write down one thing you’ve been holding back from sharing on LinkedIn. Ask yourself: What’s the worst that could happen if I post this? Then give yourself permission to do it anyway.

Why Does Any of This Matter

When you embrace validation, freedom, and permission, everything changes. You stop overthinking every post. You stop comparing yourself to others. You stop holding yourself back.

Instead, you start showing up authentically. You create a LinkedIn presence that resonates deeply with the people who need to hear your voice. And you attract the opportunities you’ve been dreaming of.

You’re ready now. You’ve always been ready.

Which of these steps feels the hardest? Start there. Because the thing that feels hardest is usually where the biggest growth happens.

If this resonated, hit reply and tell me what you’re ready to let go of. Or let’s chat about how we can create a LinkedIn presence that feels as real and impactful as you are.

Your story matters. Your voice matters. You matter. Let’s make sure the world knows it. ✨

Great newsletter Sharon Murray. I learnt a while ago that the only way I could survive being on LinkedIn (or any social media platform) was to be myself. If that's not good enough then I'm not the person for you.

Sharon, I love this perspective! It’s so easy to feel pressure on LinkedIn, but embracing our true selves is what makes this platform special. Validation, freedom, and permission are key! When we share authentically, we not only inspire ourselves but also others in our community. Let’s make LinkedIn a space where we all thrive!

I personally love LinkedIn, best platform ever! I still overthink posting, but it's much less than at the beginning of regular posting. Showing up makes the difference, helps to gain confidence.
