We had a conversation with Ryan Malmborg , the Director of New Trailer Sales at Allegiance Trucks , to understand how his experiences and passion for the logistics industry have shaped his approach to business operations.

Ryan shared that his love for the industry started when he used to wash trailers in high school. He loved seeing the trucks emitting black smoke while driving down the road. This love for the “black smoke," as his old boss called it, fueled his desire to contribute more to the logistics industry. Since becoming the Director of New Sales at Allegiance Trucks, Ryan takes pride in assisting customers throughout their buying journey, whether it’s educating them, purchasing, or supplying parts. Allegiance Trucks has a devoted team that ensures customers are getting what’s needed in the most seamless way possible.

Allegiance Trucks is committed to providing consistent support to its customers through an extensive dealer network, “regardless of the type of trailer they haul.” Ryan firmly believes in educating customers about the available opportunities and establishing strong relationships rather than pressuring them into making a purchase.

Ryan shared with us an example of a customer who primarily used non-Wabash trailers but struggled to find the quality he needed.

“We never pressured him into buying but supported him with parts and services as needed,” he shared. “One day, he came to me and said he’d like to give a Wabash DuraPlate Dry Van a try. So, we took him to the lot, educated him on the product, and showed him the weight savings. A year passed, and he said it was holding up well, and he would like to buy three more.”

He further shared that the customer has exclusively relied on Wabash trailers since that initial sale. Throughout the customer’s purchasing journey, Ryan shared that he prioritized what the customer needed rather than a focus on the sale.

“That’s what we do. We’re not here to provide a sales pitch. We’re here to provide friendships, relationships, parts, and service, and when you’re ready or when you need it, we’re here.”

In addition to supporting his customer clientele, Ryan shared that he always jumps at an opportunity to talk about the Wabash product.

“We talk about the integrity of DuraPlate all the time,” shared Ryan. “We’ve got a handful of paper haulers that use the trailers hard. Even when they come back to the lot, I’ve never been stuck with one of their trailers, because you can tell that the equipment did its job, and it’s still got more life to give.”

Allegiance Trucks has been a reputable Wabash dealer since 2018, serving the northeast region through support, parts, and services. Ryan emphasized that the organization values its customers and is committed to finding a solution, “regardless of the time it takes or the challenge it poses.”

Ryan shared with us a specific incident during the COVID-19 pandemic when a customer in the retail and wholesale business was struggling to acquire enough trailers for their fleet.

“They were looking for options, and Wabash brought us into that conversation. They gave us a foot in the door to start talking with these folks that we would’ve never gotten before.”

He shared that the customer had shared with them a high specification, and with Wabash’s support, they were able to deliver the desired trailer within the expected timeframe.

“That relationship didn’t exist before Wabash. But with that initial introduction, they trusted us to take off with it and had our backs the whole way.”
