WASCZ | A Review of The Upper & Lower School E&X Activities

WASCZ | A Review of The Upper & Lower School E&X Activities

As a full practice of WASCZ philosophy of holistic education, the enrichment and extension activities (E&X) were also intensively carried out with the winds of early autumn.

As a feast for the eyes and the mind, dozens of enrichment and extension activities were prepared for the fair, ranging from introductory to advanced, showcasing liberal arts, music, sports, technology, cooking, crafts and other areas of general studies or specialized courses.  These activities not only provide a platform for fun and exploration but also make our students  still free to develop their hobbies and interests, and explore their potential and loves in the classroom outside of academics. Through teamwork and collaboration, students at WAS Upper shool and Lower School are able to engage in a range of activities that challenge them to think creatively, work cooperatively, and broaden their horizons.

Sports Competition :

Struggle and Collaboration

Basketball spinning at the fingertips, speed racing on a rowing simulator, the light and shadow of blades intersecting when fencing, and the beautiful parabola of a golf club as it bends to rise ...... From introductory to advanced, from traditional sports, to a variety of WASCZ signature sports - Rugby, Golf, Fencing, Netball, Rowing, and many more - everything is available in a variety of categories.

At WASCZ, students are able to develop their specialties and passions in a wide variety of sports courses and clubs. Each time they sweat, they are molding themselves, and each time they persevere and fight, they are becoming more tenacious. These enrichment and extension sports will make our students to continue to improve their physical fitness and skills outside of the classroom, and make them to develop teamwork and perseverance in sports.

Hall of Arts :

Creativity and Talent

In enrichment and extension activities at WASCZ, art-loving students are free to choose any kind of artistic expression, whether it's using paintings and sculptures to tell the stories behind them, pouring out their naturally flowing emotions with melodies and rhythms, or recording fleeting moments with a shutter and a camera. ...... In the course of choosing their courses, WASCZ students were able to enjoy the fascination of music, theater, photography, and painting while interacting with renowned art instructors from both inside and outside the school.

From orchestra and choir to watercolor&illustration, ballet and Zumba, from graphic design, sewing&dressmaking, ceramics to photography and behind-the-scenes production, students will have the opportunity to tap into their own artistic talents to express their unique understanding and pursuit of beauty, to showcase their views on beauty with delicate or bold paintings and sculptures, or their musical talents to deliver soul-stirring orchestra performances.

Technology and Innovation :

Dreams and Practices

The infinite possibilities and applications of technology attracted students to stop by. Remotely controlling buzzing drones into the air and maneuvering intelligent robots under their feet, the science and technology related club, part of the enrichment and extension activities of the Upper School, helped our students experience the infinite possibilities of the future world. Through these rich scientific and technological practices, our students can show their unique creativity and technical strength in the field of science and technology to their heart's content, discovering their scientific and technological talents, cultivating their creativity and observational and practical skills. Success begins with the love of the moment, and perhaps in the future, they can also become the main force of the technology field.

Besides, the enrichment and extension activities of the Upper School offers many creative activities. Students can practice their eloquence and expression skills in the TED Talk class, practice environmental protection in the Aquaponics program, learn woodworking to become an talented craftsman, and have the opportunity to learn how to save a life in a critical situation through the First Aid and CPR class.

Step Out of Comfort Zone

and Discover Potential

At WASCZ Lower School, the concept of enrichment and extension is deeply ingrained in the school culture. Students are encouraged to step out of their comfort zones and try new things, whether it be engaging in a robotics club, participating in a debating competition, or exploring the world of art through painting and sculpture. These opportunities not only broaden students' horizons but also help them develop essential life skills such as problem-solving, critical thinking, and effective communication.

One of the key benefits of enrichment and extension activities at WASCZ Lower School is the opportunity for students to discover their passions and interests. By exposing students to a diverse range of experiences, the school provides a platform for students to explore different fields and disciplines, ultimately helping them identify what they are truly passionate about. Whether it be music, drama, sports, or coding, students are encouraged to follow their interests and delve deeper into areas that excite and inspire them.

Collaborate in Teamwork

and Grow in Teamwork

Teamwork and collaboration are also integral components of the enrichment and extension programs at WASCZ Lower School. Students are encouraged to work together in groups, whether it be on a science project, a theatrical performance, or a community service initiative. By learning to collaborate effectively with their peers, students develop important interpersonal skills, such as leadership, empathy, and conflict resolution. These experiences not only enhance students' academic abilities but also prepare them for success in their future careers and personal lives.

Success begins with love and creativity. Enrichment and extension have always been the two bright pearls in WASCZ philosophy of holistic education, and the variety of these activities are also the successful practice of the holistic education that we have always been practicing. These diversified enrichment and extension activities provide a rich tapestry of opportunities for students to have fun, explore new skills, discover their passions, and cultivate valuable teamwork and collaboration skills, and also bring them a wealth of life inspirations, laying a solid foundation for our students to enter prestigious schools in advance.

What they are going to stand on in the future is a broader and more luxuriant stage of life, and we believe that these rich development skills and excellent qualities will become the valuable wealth accompanying our students for their whole life.
