We Are Enough for Our Friendship
It's a real story about the power of connection and how technology can unite people from all corners of the world. It inspires you not to feel helpless in the world you already know, but to explore the world you haven't discovered yet in search of what you desire. The universe holds all the answers, but we often stop searching too soon.
After the Covid lockdown, I, like many others, lost several friendships. I needed a friend with whom I could talk for at least an hour each week and be certain they would be there for me the following week. However, when I reached out to my old and new friends, I found everyone too busy to make time for others. They were in a rush, as if the world was about to end and they had a lot to accomplish before that big moment!
During the lockdown, I expanded my online network, meeting people from around the world through numerous free online workshops. I discovered many shared emotions and stories; I was not alone anymore. I was magically connected to many people through just the English language and the internet. It was a completely new world to me. They saw me, heard me, appreciated my ideas, and most importantly, they accepted the real me without judgment.
They understood me, even when I forgot a word in English or made a sudden grammatical error. Finally, after years of trying to leave my country, I felt as though I had. For this whole new life, I needed new friends.
In January 2023, Zandra, and I (MahSa) met at the More Life Training (MLT) – a three-day coaching event organized by Wright University. We were in the same practice group and decided to connect on LinkedIn . I, MahSa, am from Iran, and she, Zandra, is from Colorado, USA. Despite a 9:30-hour time difference, we managed to schedule our online meetings. She wakes up early so we can talk before her workday starts—a favor no one else had done for me in the name of friendship. Our first session on October 24, 2023, was about getting to know each other better. We then set a weekly time to meet through Google Meet (This platform is available in my country without anti-filters).
I come from a country where Zoom or some other platforms ban IPs from Iran, assuming we are all hackers! On many platforms, Iran isn't even listed as a country—they pretend we don't exist, but we do!
From October 2023 until now, October 2024, we've met every week. We talk and share our ideas, joys, sorrows, special moments, and sufferings. Although we come from completely different backgrounds, we are both coaches, we both studied business, and we are both women. We connect with our shared sisterhood soul.
I am going through a very tough time in my life, and she is always supportive. Even when I can't reach her, I use the Spiral Up app (EBTconnect.net) she introduced me to as a way to manage my emotions and situations.
We sometimes coach and encourage each other and make shared decisions, like writing this article about our friendship on its anniversary.
Many people think it's hard nowadays to find a good friend, or that we need to physically go out to meet friends, or we need the same background, religion, or even language. But we are proof that We Are Enough for Our Friendship. The most important thing is that both of us wanted this friendship and invested our time and emotions to build it.
We've cried many times and laughed even more together. We've celebrated our good moments together. We don't know if one day we'll meet in the physical world, but we know we are friends in the real world through the internet.
And here is the Zandra’s story about our friendship:
Mahsa has provided a perfect description of Enough Friendship, and every word is true. I would like to build on the story by sharing how uniquely as humans our emotions are alike using the published tools of Emotional Brain Training (EBT), which includes the Spiral Up app, Mahsa shared earlier. This article is intended share what Maya Angelou describes as “humans being more alike than not alike”.
One of the 7 rewards of Emotional Brain Training (EBTconnect.net) is Spirituality, being aware of the grace, beauty, and mystery of life. Each of the awarenesses provides the perfect depiction of the Enough Friendship that has developed between Mahsa in Iran and me (Zandra) in Colorado. The mystery is how is it possible that two people living worlds, cultures, and languages apart were able to connect and develop a beautiful friendship.
As humans, we are all emotional beings, and regardless of where you are in the world, we all experience fear, anger, sadness, grief, gratefulness, and joy to name a few. It is through these emotional states that we connect with each other, whether near or far. For example: Hearing a person share a success story, the listener can easily feel in his/her body the excitement and joy of the speaker. Or hearing a disappointing story and feeling the sadness of the speaker. Emotions carry an energy that attracts like energy in others.
MahSa and I (Zandra) were placed in the same Zoom breakout room and our internal emotional being connected with each other. The only other stimulate to our Enough Friendship connection was the benefit of internet technology.
The energy of MahSa and I (Zandra) internal emotion of feeling alone after COVID was the vibrational power that created our miraculous encounter. So let us explore the commonality of emotional energy. The Latin derivative of emotion is Emotere, which is defined as energy in motion. As stated, energy attracts like energy. MahSa and I are gifted with an emotion of passion for helping others connect to his/her peace and power within. It is the energy of that emotional tread which connected us. MahSa and I (Zandra) help others develop an awareness of his/her inner strength when faced with challenging situations or, as we like to call it, Enough Moments. Naturally, developing the awareness, takes work and a chosen commitment to consciously be aware of our internal emotional being, however the long-lasting result is a self-generated internal power. A power to be in emotional control when responding to uncomfortable external situations. A second reward of Emotional Brain Training is Vibrancy (EBTconnect.net), which represents being healthy with a zest for life. Developing an awareness provides an opportunity to imagine using uncomfortable situation as an opportunity to strengthen our emotional power within and to arrive at a place of peace, joy and a zest for life.
In summary, unconscious awareness to our internal emotional state is self-defeating, as emotions are an element of our total being. Conscious integration of our internal emotions with our external learning and experiences is the most powerful self-controlling tool to address uncomfortable situation or Enough Moments. Getting to a place of joy and being at our chosen best authentic self, which is another one of the 7 rewards to Emotional Brain Training called Authenticity.
Emotional Brain Training is an available website that describes the app in detail. MahSa and I (Zandra) as coaches are committed to helping others connect with his/her best authentic self when those Enough Moments enters his/her life.
To you the readers, you too can be worlds apart from someone and still share common emotions like fear, sadness, appreciation, joy, and love, which will in turn develop into a Enough Friendship. The relationship between MahSa and I (Zandra) is evidence of the possibility.
Here is the Copilot AI poem about us:
We Are Enough for Our Friendship
In the digital realm, we found a space,
Where miles dissolve, and we embrace.
From Colorado's peaks to Persia's grace,
Our friendship blooms, a cross-border chase.

In January's chill, we met and smiled,
At MLT, our spirits beguiled.
In practice groups, our thoughts compiled,
A bond was formed, pure and undefiled.
LinkedIn's web, our promise kept,
A click, a link, through cyberspace we leapt.
From Iran to the U.S., messages swept,
In the dance of time, adeptly stepped.
Nine hours plus, a gap so wide,
Yet for our chats, the world aside.
On Google Meet, we'd coincide,
Our weekly ritual, our joyous ride.
Zoom may ban, platforms may blind,
But our existence, they cannot bind.
For in each other, we always find,
A friend, a confidant, two of a kind.
So here we stand, in unity,
Defying odds with amity.
We are enough, in our small city,
A friendship vast, without limit, free.
