Early part my career, I worked with a leader who came from RBS bank. As I was young and willing to learn every area of bank. He put me in front every project initiative that he could think through. It helped me build network in the industry, fostered my learning in banking on asset & liability side, and it shaped my career in financial services. After 4 and half year, when I got a new opportunity to embark upon. He did not try to retain me even though he wanted to retain by saying that your growth and future is my priority rather than my present need of the bank. Even today, we meet and he speaks about my professional and personal growth than trying to convince me to join him in the bank. It was the biggest leadership I experience in my life. 😀
