What I learned in 365 podcast episodes

Reaching the milestone of 365 podcast episodes has been an incredible journey. Each conversation has offered profound insights into what it takes to lead effectively in an ever-evolving world. Here are the key lessons I’ve learned about future leadership.

1. Look far, deep and wide.

Scanning the horizon for what's coming is an essential aspect of leadership practice. The interviews were a great way to stay on top of the issues. I summarised the current issues recently here.

Here are some episodes that really stretched my thinking:

🚀 356 Ajay Malik’s leadership principles for getting started with AI Ajay Malik 's were so insightful. Don't consider A.I. from 'what technology should I use' but 'what challenges have I got?' and start from there.

🚀337 Navigating the seas of change: Leadership insights from Dr Karuna Ramanatha Dr. Karuna Ramanathan explained how to tackle issues from a wide, systemic point of view.

🚀311 Navigating leadership trends with author Rohit Bhargava As one of the best practitioners for thinking practically about the future, Rohit Bhargava is also of my favourite futurists, and our conversation was amazing. He's got a new book coming out too.

🚀308 Technosocialism: Futurist Brett King on the intersection of leadership, technology and humanity.

The astonishing Brett King paints such a vivid picture of four possible worlds, and how we might steer the ship in a much more positive direction through 'techno-socialism'. His book is a master class in imagining the future.

2. Master Collaboration.

So many issues leaders face need, at the minimum, cooperation between teams, and yet they are constantly stymied by silos and patch protecting. In my research on the future of organisational success, collaboration is an essential leadership skill to develop. And yet it's so hard!

Here are some of the great conversations I had on the topic:

🏆307 Collective leadership and flattened hierarchy: a new model for a better future

Samantha Slade is an incredible practitioner of flattened hierarchy doing cutting edge work, helping organisations eliminate hierarchy for more powerful, inclusive cultures.

🏆256 A leadership code for building better teams from George Karseras

George Karseras has the best book I've read on teams, ever. It's called, Build Better Teams. I loved our conversation and admire his work.

3. Be prepared to have your mind blown!

Changing beliefs, perspective, and worldviews is no easy feat. On a few rare occasions, this happened during the conversation.

🤯 224 A paradigm-shattering leadership perspective from Carol Sanford

From ditching feedback, to reinventing organisations as regenerative, Carol Sanford left me awestruck. Her thinking is setting the tenor for what is possible for humanity as we co-create the future together.

🤯 E119 - 7 Values of Metamodern Leadership we need now - with James Surwillo

James Surwillo writes extensively on Metamodern leadership, essential paradigm shifts required for navigating the future.

We continue to grow and evolve as humans, and we are constantly facing the shifting sands of challenges, and opportunities. I am so grateful for everyone who has come on the show, sharing their brilliance and wisdom with the world!

Here is the entire catalogue of episodes right here. Happy listening!
