Why Africa is the now, not the Future

Why Africa is the now, not the Future

Africa isn’t the future, Africa is the now.

For the last week and a half, I spent time in Lagos, Nigeria for HR Expo Africa 2021, representing Team Guide and speaking on the future of borderless work.

I was born in Nigeria, so this was my first time visiting the country since 1999.

While in Lagos, I was inspired by how the people of Lagos continue to embrace and even set new technology trends and how the city of Lagos is a melting pot of innovation opportunities.

At Guide, we actually work with youth and talent in Nigeria and other parts of Africa, from the U.S.

To a degree, we’ve been investing in Africa before it became trendy.

We’re truly a borderless organization and we intend to continue investing in African talent and other parts of the continent.

The internet and so many converging technologies continues to make borders meaningless.

Talent can come from anywhere.

Innovation can come from anywhere.

We will continue to invest in Africa and specifically work closely with government leaders in Nigeria or other parts of Africa to expand the continents prevalence as a beacon of innovation.

Happy day one.

Africa isn’t the future, Africa is the now.

Expect to see Team Guide focus on the localization and internationalization of our products now and into the future. Nigeria will be one of many premier destinations we hope to do business in very very very soon while maintaining our creed on lean and flexible operations.

The internet allows for infinite distribution and borderless work and we want to bring that same creed to the people of Africa.

Innovation can come from anywhere.

Happy day one.
