“Why are you so Fucking Happy?!”

“Why are you so Fucking Happy?!”

 I get this question a LOT. Like there’s a problem with it. (?)

  Yes I’m generally a happy person, very happy as a matter of fact so I do get this question daily. I have numerous pat answers, all true, at my disposal and issue them out depending on my mood, (I guess, I honestly never really thought about it until I started writing this). One of my favorites is,

“Well I woke up alive today”, Not much to be said about that is there?

Another answer that I use, especially if I feel like having a discussion is,

“Well things could be worse, I could be Donald Trump”

Please don’t misunderstand, I’m not “down” on the guy, he has my sympathy. In my opinion he’s not very enlightened and has some very mixed up priorities, maybe one day he’ll learn, or it may take a few lifetimes but that is his burden to bear, and I certainly would not wish that kind of burden on anyone. The point is I’m just glad that I’m not him.

Karma, I believe in Karma.

 You can replace “The Donald” with any abrasive Asshole  you like in this response, depending on your mood. Again I would like to clarify that I’m not down on Assholes either. Everyone’s an Asshole, myself especially included. That was a profound and revelating day when I looked in the mirror and came to this realization, but it’s true. A real blow to my ego but seriously I battle my ego daily, terrible burden to be encumbered with but I always say that “Recognition” is the first step towards understanding something and rectifying it if need be. I have to admit that this revelation propelled me dramatically towards a “happier” state of mind.

     I would like to point out here that in our “Politically  Correct” charged times, (Oh God bless us, every one.  Maybe the madness will end soon), “Asshole” is a relatively safe term to use, it is not racist, sexist, or exhibits bigotry  in any way, no one can take offence because, and I repeat, everyone is one.(And if you’re reacting to this sentiment then you’re just a bigger one than the rest of us, get over it).

Here’s an answer that really confuses sometimes, depending on the weather but again I am sincere in this sentiment as it is a beautiful world that we live in,

“It’s a beautiful day out today”

It could be -40, blizzard conditions, or thunder storms with pouring rain, or HOT, whatever, but whatever it is I appreciate it, there’s certainly nothing I can do about it anyway, (maybe this goes back to the point of “waking up alive”).

I have all kinds of answers to “the question”, all of them sincere and all of them true but I think you understand the point;

It’s all a matter of Perspective.

Yes there are a lot of problems in the world, Yes we all have personal issues that we are dealing with on a daily basis; here’s the point; We ALL are in the same boat.

 Most people respond to me positively but there are a few that don’t. I can see it in their eyes and hear the tone in their voice when they ask;

“Why are you so Fucking Happy?!”

Their indignant tone accuses me of, “How dare you!” This just makes me smile even more. I’m sorry if I don’t jump on your “bandwagon” of misery, whining and complaints, I really am, I just don’t have time for it in my life right now, but if that ever changes I will get back to you.

Maybe I’m becoming wiser as I advance in years, maybe I’m getting senile, it doesn’t really matter but I seem to be getting happier as time goes by. Possibly I’ve lost my mind and having said that it could be argued that I’m probably better off without it in this day and age but that is a topic better left for another day. Maybe it’s appreciation, I’m counting my blessings daily and why shouldn’t I? Why should anyone not count their blessings?

  Speaking of perspectives here’s an excerpt from another article that may give some more insight, I’m discussing “Death”; here’s the cold reality and one of the rare things that I can state irrefutably, 100%, absolutely NO argument against it. We’re ALL going to die, sooner or later but we don’t know when;

  “A few of the basic premises of Don Juan’s teachings discuss the subject of Death. As morbid as this sounds it is a reality, absolutely no escape so as Don Juan says, “use that knowledge to your advantage”, use death as your advisor, when taken in this context everything else becomes equal, mundane, and unimportant especially your personal issues and problems. He goes on to say that you should perform every act as if it your “last stand on earth”, (which is a definite possibility), in this frame of mind you will probably perform as best as you can, this frame of mind cuts all the crap, you will be inclined to behave more “impeccably”. Not knowing when you’re going to die is a mystery for everyone but think about this, when you do “go” do you want to be mad, upset, depressed, unhappy? Do you want to have those crappy feelings inside you, take them to the grave with you? Or do you want to behave “impeccably”, trying to cut the crap, trying to perform to your potential, trying to “go out with a bang”, your spirit shining because your fighting your “last stand on earth “to the best of your ability, you’ve accepted the fact that you are going to go so you might as well do it in the best way that you can.”

 might be dead in the next 5 minutes; You might be dead in the next 5 minutes, are you going to waste that precious time being perturbed with me because I'm Happy? LMFAO!!!

Here’s another excerpt from the same article;

  “Anxiety is caused by the discrepancy between our perceptions/expectations of what we think reality should be, and what reality actually is”.

Having accepted this premise you now have the choice of how to rectify it. Something needs to change and you need to change it. Your choices are to either change your perceptions or change reality. Can you change reality? Absolutely not, so your only choice is to change your perception, which is the only way to get relief.”

  I read an interesting article yesterday by Geoff Hudson-Searle titled, “Can we truly renew ourselves?” I believe that we can, this is the comment that I left;

“Great post @Geoff Hudson-Searle Wonderful message. The "renewing" is very important, every moment that we have is a new opportunity to not only improve and strive to be better but it is another chance for us to be happy and joyful.

Think about every breath that we take, as we take that breath we are "renewing" ourselves, bringing in fresh new energy, releasing old unwanted "baggage"; every breath that we take is a "renewing".

 A human being will take approx. 672,768,000 breaths by the time they reach 80 years old, each one of those breaths is a “renewing”, each one an opportunity to change, to be happy. You just have to concentrate on the “breath of the moment”, feel it coming inside of you, energizing you, “renewing” you. Here is a sentiment that has been relayed and communicated in many different ways and I like this particular rendition,

“Regret for the past and anxiety for the future are the 2 thieves that rob you of the present”

  Don’t worry about the “breaths “ you’ve already taken, they’re gone, don’t worry about “where your next breath is coming from”, concentrate on your inhalation right now, appreciate it for what it is, rejoice and be HAPPY in the magic that is happening at this very moment.

(Concentrating on one’s breathing is an effective technique for meditation)

 I talk about Karma and if I can make just 1 person smile and/or laugh throughout my day then I feel like I’ve accomplished something. I think good Karma is to spread the joy. I have to mention Ian Weinberg as I thoroughly enjoy my interactions with him due to his “mindfulness” of “making something better than what it was before engaging with it”, (direct quote from Ian), I agree 100% and I behave this way. This post is a good example, If I can make just 1 person smile and/or laugh from this then that’s ALL that matters. I can be criticized, crucified, ridiculed, whatever from everyone else but I’ve reached 1 person, that’s good Karma. That makes me happy. Can you imagine if each one of us could just reach 1 person?

 So what’s the point I’m trying to reach with this tirade?

It was yesterday when I walked into work with my usual big “shit eating grin” and a happy “Good Morning!” to all that I met when the “Antagonist” zeroed in on me and Bang! “The Question”.

 “Why are you so fucking happy?!”

  In a rare existential moment my intellect stepped back, my soul “shivered” and I felt my spirit spread its wings. I became an “Observer” and witnessed the nebulous untouchable aspects of myself step forward and vocalize my deepest feelings. My voice was calm and low, full of love and the 5 simple words that I uttered, having never thought of or said this response before, stopped the “Antagonist” in his tracks. I said,

Because I choose to be

Because I choose to be. Exactly, Randy. I get asked that question a lot, too, and generally respond with "because I woke up and had warm running water in the shower."
