Your wisest teacher.

Your wisest teacher.

As the year draws to an end and you take some time off, perhaps you'd like to dedicate a few minutes to re-connect to your wisest teacher.

Do you ever ignore your inner voice (the wise one, the one that is there to help and protect you)?

🙋🏻♀️ I do.

And if you’re honest with yourself you’ll put your hand up too.

That little voice inside you (your higher self, inner wise guide), that knows what you need to do, but against all odds and wisdom, you ignore.

Sometimes is a gut feeling, sometimes a series of thoughts and actions. But you choose to turn a blind eye and then you regret it.

What if that voice came from someone you trust / love / look up to? Would you listen then?

I’ll give you a personal example:

Recently I have been poorly, for about 10 days (just as I visited my mum in Spain!) and after my kids have been consecutively poorly for the past three weeks. I Came back home still feeling unwell and with high temperature over night still.

In the morning, before she went off to school my daughter came to me and said “bye mami, hope you feel better” as she hugged me. So I said, “thanks darling, I will be. Think I just need a day to rest” She then said (still hugging me) “or 2 or 3 mum, you need to rest”. To which I replied “well I have to go to the office tomorrow for work”. Still without letting go of me she said - “no mum you don’t. You cannot go because you need to rest. You do not go to work”.

I gave her an even bigger hug and I said “oh Chloe, my wise little monkey. Thanks for looking after me” and she said “I’m looking after you the same you look after me, cause I love you”.

And of course, I had to listen.

Two key things stroke me here:

  • an outside voice helped me see through the woods. She knew what I knew, I just needed to be told.
  • Love. I’m looking after you because I LOVE you. We look after the people we care about…and do we not care about ourselves?

So, as you walk into your holiday breaks and take some time off to disconnect and re-connect, I want you to pause and reflect on the below.

  • How frequently you listen to your inner wisdom?
  • How frequently do you let yourself be guided and seek help when needed?
  • How do you care for yourself?

Caring about your job, your career, others…is wonderful, but don’t ever forget if you do not care and look after yourself none of it is possible.

Make yourself a priority before it’s too late.

It’s not selfish, it’s needed.
