📢 TODAY: ZEMBA announced the opening of the bid submission period for our groundbreaking tender focused on catalyzing the first commercial deployment of e-fuel in the maritime sector. Through this tender, ZEMBA intends to aggregate approximately 86 billion tonne nautical miles of demand for the emissions abatement associated with e-fuel-powered shipping to be deployed starting around 2027 for our over 40 members. 🚢 This equates to 1.5 million twenty-foot containers transported across the Pacific Ocean by e-fuels, assuming a benchmark distance of Shanghai to Los Angeles. 🌎 Below, ZEMBA’s President and CEO Ingrid Irigoyen challenges containership carriers to bring us their best bids for qualifying e-fuels. Together, we can create the business case for the maritime sector's clean energy transition. Last week, The Aspen Institute Energy & Environment Program (EEP)'s Planet Media initiative unveiled "A Toolkit for Climate Storytelling," a comprehensive guide equipping content creators with four essential climate principles and strategies to help children and families understand our changing climate. A 2022 report from This Is Planet Ed found that while 74% of parents want to see children’s media include climate solutions, only 1.4% of 664 episodes from children’s educational and nature-themed TV series episodes reviewed contained climate change content. This new toolkit offers strategies, examples, and ideas to support creators in developing content grounded in climate principles, and urges them to help young people understand climate change and develop agency to act. Explore the full toolkit at the link below.
