🌟 Meet the Team: Rohita Sinha 🌟 We're thrilled to introduce Rohita Sinha, PhD, the R&D Director of Bioinformatics & AI at Eurofins Viracor! Rohita holds a Ph.D. in Bioinformatics from the The University of Kansas and brings a wealth of scientific expertise across diverse domains, including structural biology, metagenomics, machine learning, and the application of omics data in clinical diagnostics. His journey in bioinformatics has been truly impactful, especially in his work on modeling protein-protein interactions and advancing clinical diagnostics. Before joining Eurofins, Rohita co-founded Metagenome Analytics, LLC, a computational food-safety startup, where he developed the first NGS-based Salmonella serotyping protocol – a groundbreaking achievement in the field. Now, as R&D Director at a Eurofins Center of Excellence, he’s passionate about the difference his work makes in the lives of patients. Rohita enjoys managing his talented team, solving complex biological problems, and collaborating with scientists across the industry. When he's not tackling bioinformatics challenges, Rohita enjoys reading new scientific publications, writing poems, watching movies, and trying new foods. 🚀 Meet the Team: Kathryn Kouters 🌍 We're excited to spotlight Kathryn Kouters, our Supervisor of Analytical Project Management at Eurofins Central Laboratory in Breda, The Netherlands! Kathryn has an impressive background, earning her BSc in Molecular Biology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a Research MSc in Molecular Medicine from Erasmus MC in the Netherlands. In 2016, she made the bold move from Wisconsin to Roosendaal, where she dove headfirst into the Dutch culture and began her career in a diagnostic laboratory. This journey led her to Eurofins, where she found her passion in the operational side of clinical trials. With extensive experience in regulated laboratory environments, Kathryn thrives in adhering to standards such as ISO 15189, GMP, and GCLP. The dynamic and challenging environment at Eurofins is where she really shines – leading the biomarker team to provide structure amidst client demands, method troubleshooting, and delivering high-quality results. The team focuses on study conduct for bioanalytical methods using ligand binding assays, LC-MS, and clinical analyzers. Sinterklaas is a legendary figure based on the historical figure of Saint Nicholas (270–343), a Greek bishop of Myra in present-day Turkey. Other Dutch names for the figure include De Sint ("The Saint"), De Goede Sint ("The Good Saint") and De Goedheiligman (from "goed hylickman" meaning "good holy man"), alluding to his historical reputation as a Saint who can help you find a good life partner. The feast of Sinterklaas is celebrated annually with families getting together to exchange gifts on St. Nicholas' Eve (5 December) in the Netherlands, and other countries as well.
