FUELGAE Project Takes the Stage at CINEA Workshop on Biofuels for Aviation & Maritime! 🧪 ✈️🚢 Silvia Morales de la Rosa, our Project Coordinator from CSIC, presented FUELGAE Project’s transformative work at the #HorizonEurope cluster workshop organized by CINEA - European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency. The event gathered 33 biofuel and renewable fuel projects, aiming to accelerate the EU’s transition to sustainable #aviation and #maritime fuel. 🗣️ This workshop highlighted the critical role of #research and #innovation in developing biofuels that reduce CO₂ emissions and promote energy independence. Exciting Highlights from the BIOCTANE Workshop! 🎉 We were thrilled to showcase our FUELGAE Project at the BIOCTANE workshop yesterday, hosted by IMDEA Energy in Madrid. Our project coordinator, Silvia Morales de la Rosa, presented FUELGAE at the “Scientific Workshop: Thermochemical Conversion of Biogenic Waste to Jet Fuel,” highlighting our innovative approaches to converting industrial #CO₂ emissions into #renewable #fuels using the superpower of #microalgae. 🔬 ✨ The workshop featured a full day of engaging lectures and networking opportunities with experts in #thermochemical processes and renewable #fuel production. 🌟Excited to share my experience at the 5th Iberoamerican Congress on biorefineries (#5CIAB)🌟 I had the honour of representing the Institute of Catalysis and Petrochemistry (ICP) of the CSIC by presenting my oral presentation titled "Hydrotreatment of Waste Cooking Oil for Biofuels Production ." This research is part of the FUELGAE Project dedicated to developing advanced technologies for sustainable biofuel production and within the framework of PTI_TransEner+. Participating in this congress was an incredible experience that allowed me to share our work and learn from other researchers in the field of catalysis and bioenergy. I am very grateful for this opportunity and excited to bring back new knowledge and perspectives to further advance our project. Thank you Silvia Morales de la Rosa and Jose M. I am pleased to share my experience at the 5th Ibero-American Congress on Biorefineries (#5CIAB) in Jaén, Spain. By participating in this congress with my poster titled "Development of a Novel Fractionation Process for the Fragmentation of Microalgae Biomass," I had the opportunity to represent the Sustainable Energy and Chemistry Group (EQS) of the Instituto de Catálisis y Petroleoquímica (CSIC). This poster highlights the FUELGAE Project proposal, focused on developing advanced technologies for the sustainable production of biofuels, as part of the PTI_TransEner + framework. Attending this congress has provided me with valuable insights and perspectives that will undoubtedly enhance my work on this project. This week, the FUELGAE Project consortium gathered in Thessaloniki for the 4th General Assembly meeting, hosted by Centre for Research & Technology Hellas (CERTH). We toured their impressive facilities, where high-performing #microalgae are being selected to convert greenhouse gas emissions into valuable polysaccharides (sugars) and lipids (oils) for biomass production, an important element of biofuels. 1️⃣ 2️⃣ months into the project, we’ve made significant strides: 📆 🚀 🌿 Identified microalgae species that thrive in high GHG environments, with the first batch now in partner labs for further adaptation. 🔄 Developed new methods to extract useful products from microalgae. ⚙️ Explored innovative technologies using catalysts to produce Advanced Liquid Biofuels. 🌍 Completed preliminary environmental and socio-economic assessments. 📡 Successfully tested novel sensor probes for monitoring algae growth. 💡 Established frameworks for innovation, IP management, and business modelling.
