🌟 Kicking Off 2025 with a Look Back at AlgaEurope 2024 conference! 🌍 Last month, Dr. Giannis Penloglou from our project partner Centre for Research & Technology Hellas (CERTH) closed out 2024 on a high note by representing the FUELGAE Project at #AlgaEurope2024 conference in #Athens, Greece. 🎯 He shared key research and innovation milestones, highlighting: 🔍 Screening microalgal species to identify and optimize industrially relevant strains for biofuel production using industrial off-gases. 🚀 Gradual upscaling of the bioprocess, leading to the validation of a retrofitting model with a novel photobioreactor to be developed and tested on-site. On November 28th, I had the privilege of participating in the 12th Horizon Europe Conference, organised by CDTI Innovación - Centro para el Desarrollo Tecnológico y la Innovación in Oviedo. Representing the Institute of Catalysis and Petrochemistry (ICP) at CSIC, we presented the European project FUELGAE Project, coordinated by PI Silvia Morales de la Rosa. This promising initiative aims to pave the way toward a more sustainable future, where biofuels will play a pivotal role in the global energy transition. The conference also addressed the advances targeted by the upcoming Framework Programme 2028-2034, offering an exciting perspective on the strategic priorities and innovations that will shape the future of European research and innovation. #Sustainability #Biofuels #EnergyTransition #FUELGAE

🚨 Next week, the FUELGAE Project will participate in "Research, Technology, Innovation: Highlights of the Bio-based Industry 2024," focusing on secondary raw materials as key to groundbreaking material solutions! Hosted by the Austrian Federal Ministry for Climate Action (BMK), the event unites experts from industry, science, and policy to explore sustainable innovations. 🔍 Why it matters? FUELGAE’s mission aligns with the event’s focus on renewable resources and waste streams to reduce reliance on fossil-based materials.  We’re developing advanced liquid fuels (ALFs) by recycling CO₂ emissions from biorefineries and energy-intensive industries using microalgae, key to decarbonizing sectors like aviation and shipping. 💡 How FUELGAE’s innovative approach complements the event focus: • Just as the event highlights the role of biogenic raw materials and circular economy principles, FUELGAE turns industrial waste into valuable products like biofuels and biochar. • By integrating innovative technologies, including photobioreactors and catalytic upgrading systems, we aim to demonstrate the transformative potential of bio-based innovations for European competitiveness and decarbonizing hard-to-eliminate sectors like aviation and shipping. 🎯 What we expect from the event: Inspiration: Explore how secondary raw materials drive new industries.
