✨ North American Health & Life Sciences Team Meet-Up ✨ Last week, our North American Health & Life Sciences team gathered in Boston for a meet-up to strengthen our collaborative efforts and outline key projects for the coming years. Aside from a lot of quality-time together, we had multiple workshops, insightful discussions and knowledge sharing across the different missions’ regional experiences. The topics were centred around our key priorities: hospital innovation, supporting Danish healthcare start-ups, and key stakeholders, enhancing government-to-government collaboration and building stronger connections across Denmark, the US, and Canada. We also went on a guided tour of Kendall Square’s impressive life science history – an activity with significant relevance in light of the new Danish Life Science Strategy and the plans for Innovation District Copenhagen (more on that soon 👀). We are looking forward to our next chance to connect and discuss best practises for value-creation through our work. As an intern at Innovation Centre Denmark Boston, you never know what opportunities might come your way! 👀 This Tuesday evening, our three interns — Daniel Blæsdahl Nielsen, Line Stub Madsen, and Oskar Strandsby — took the opportunity to present to an innovation class at Boston University about how we work with innovation at Innovation Centre Denmark Boston. They discussed the Danish welfare system, how startups operate in Denmark, and the impact of transatlantic collaboration on innovation. Turning Ideas into Reality in Boston! 💡 During the visit of Minister of Higher Education and Science Christina Egelund to Boston in February, a roundtable was held at Massachusetts Institute of Technology to discuss quantum collaboration between the US and Denmark. At this meeting, the idea of establishing a postdoc quantum exchange programme came up. Now, it has become a reality! Last week, Christina Egelund announced the political agreements on the allocation of DKK 5.5 billion (USD $780 million) in 2025 to research and innovation to tackle Denmark’s most pressing issues: climate, security, and health. One particularly exciting part of this initiative is the launch of the quantum postdoc exchange program, a program developed based on input from Innovation Centre Denmark in Silicon Valley and Boston, with 20 million DKK (USD $2.9 million) dedicated to promoting cross-border quantum research. This program will make it possible to further expand the collaboration between Danish and American researchers, opening doors to new discoveries and collaboration in quantum technology. “The new postdoc exchange program will offer a number of early-career quantum researchers the opportunity to conduct part of their research at leading universities in the USA and other countries. The summit brought together healthcare leaders and innovators from Denmark, the U.S., and Canada to address some of the biggest trends and challenges in healthcare. This year’s program focused on three central themes: innovation leadership in hospitals, AI in healthcare, and delivering care closer to patients, including the hospital-at-home model 💡 . 🖥️ New quantum computing centre in Boston for industry and academia🖥️ Within two days two powerful computational centres was announced on each side of the Atlantic. Tuesday, Nadia Carlsten, PhD and Jensen Huang launched the Gefion AI Supercomputer in Denmark based on technology from NVIDIA, and Thursday in Boston the first quantum computing complex in a high-performance computing center was announced (MASSACHUSETTS GREEN HIGH PERFORMANCE COMPUTING CENTER INC). These two events shows that Massachusetts and Denmark are global leaders in the deployment of the next generation of deep tech supercomputers, which opens obvious avenues for collaboration for industry and academia in a number of areas including life science and the green transition. The announcement ceremony in Boston was followed by a roundtable discussion with Director of the National Quantum Coordination Office Gretchen Campbell from The White House OSTP, Congressman Richard Neal, Secretary of Economic Development in MA Yvonne Hao, and many more👏 Massachusetts Technology Collaborative hosted the announcement ceremony of the 16M$ investment to establish the first quantum computing complex. The quantum computer is delivered by the Boston-based QuEra Computing Inc., a Spinout from Harvard University and Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
