Nordic discussion at CIIE We had the pleasure of moderating and participating in a Nordic discussion on sustainable innovation and Chinese collaboration in the midst of China’s most important expo, the CIIE. Consul General Mikael H. Winther kicked off the talk, stressing the massive potential for Nordic innovation when collaborating with Chinese partners, whom share our values and ambitions for green transition and life science. Next, Anders Sloth Nielsen took the stage to moderate the discussion between Business Finland, Innovation Norway, Business Sweden, the Icelandic Deputy Head of Mission of Beijing and the Danish Commercial Consul Mads Vesterager Nielsen. Whenever we unite as Nordics, our similarities and common ground are evident as a huge advantage. Knowledge sharing, sustainability and innovation is treasured by all of us, and at the Innovation Center Denmark in Shanghai we are thankful from the synergy we have with our Nordic neighbors and already look forward to our next collaboration. Networking with Gløgg and Ideas: Danish Alumni Strengthen Ties in Shanghai Last night we held another Alumni Network Meeting in Shanghai, hosting a lecture by Professor Ma Chi from The Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences on Danish traces in the modernization of Shanghai and a presentation on Sino-Danish collaboration within life science and sustainable development by Ms. Heidi Yan, PhD. The lectures turned into discussions as speakers and the audience engaged with each other, and our triple helix approach became full circle as industry and academia learned from one another with Executive Director Anders Sloth Nielsen as moderator. With risalamande in one hand and gløgg in the other, our alumni had ample time to develop relationships across sectors. And yes, somebody eventually found the almond. At every event we stick to our mission: to engage, exchange and grow. Any meet up is a learning opportunity and a place to connect with likeminded individuals. If you are Chinese who has studied in Denmark, or you have an idea for an interesting presentation, please reach out to us at the Innovation Centre Denmark, Shanghai.

Visiting the Nordic Centre: a Scandinavian hub of knowledge in Shanghai! Executive Director Anders Sloth Nielsen visited the Nordic Centre at Fudan University in Shanghai, accompanied by intern Amalie Cicilie Sarna. Nordic Centre, Fudan University is a collaboration between various Nordic academia and serves as a platform for initiating and developing research, education, conferences and workshops, hosting Scandinavian students and researchers alike. Programme Manager Veli-Matti Palomäki (马维) briefed Anders on the knowledge institute and hosted a discussion on the opportunities for new activities and the development of existing concepts. By chance, we met Professor Søren Klausen from the University of Southern Denmark, whose research his university’s membership in the Nordic Centre accommodates. The chance encounter provided us valuable insight with a scholarly perspective. We look forward to deepening this partnership and continue to strengthen Danish innovation and academia through Nordic and global initiatives.
