🔎 The Plastic Packaging in People's Lives' project examined the whole packaging supply chain: production, consumption, post-consumption, waste disposal and processes - 552 people and 91 organisations were involved in the research. ♻️ The Rethinking the Consumer Attitude Behaviour Gap report offers a comprehensive overview of the project’s findings, giving a holistic view on how plastic food packaging is embedded in consumers’ day-to-day lives. 🔗 Read the reports and connect with the researchers: https://lnkd.in/eAw8adqV   🤝 The multi-disciplinary research team is comprised of Lancaster University experts in consumer insights, supply chain management, waste management and material science. Our UK Research and Innovation 'Plastic Packaging in People's Lives: Rethinking the consumer attitude-behaviour gap' research project findings are now available. We have launched our work with insights about 'wish recycling' and the implications, but our 3.5 year project, at Lancaster University Management School, has covered a lot more. A total of 552 people and 91 organisations were involved in the research via interviews with consumers and households, workshops, supply chain companies and waste management facility visits. Our Lancaster University research has been published today sharing one of our findings about UK households and 'wishcycling' (putting things in the recycling and hoping for the best) rather than recycling (see news feed below 👇): We have been working with supermarkets, businesses, charities & waste management companies for 3.5 years to explore the ins and outs of how the UK thinks and acts when it comes to plastic food packaging   We found UK households care about the planet and try their best, but reducing food waste at home is as much a priority as minimising plastic – and can sometimes trump concerns over packaging.   Our findings indicated a reluctance to wash & recycle some packaging through fears of contamination (e.g. raw meat / fish packets).
