This episode is dedicated to the memory of Jorge Pastore – EOW 11/11/23 On November 11, 2023, Austin Texas Police officers responded to a call of a stabbing. When officers arrived, they made contact with one of the victims who advised two additional family members were still inside the residence with the suspect. Patrol officers forced entry into the residence and were immediately met with gun fire. APD SWAT was requested to assist, and upon arrival an emergency entry was made to save the lives of the hostages. The suspect barricaded himself in a bedroom and ambushed the entry team as they made entry, killing Officer Jorge Pastore and seriously injuring Officer John Conner. In this debrief, Jon is sitting down with Sgt. Rafael Rosales and Ofc. Kevin Olejar to share the event and to discuss lessons learned. Last week, Jon sat down with the Warren County Tactical Response Unit (WCTRU) as they debriefed their swift and successful hostage rescue operation. The thought there was, well, if we start this entry and we can't get through the door and he takes her and then barricades into the bathroom, we're back to square one, right?
