We’ve just wrapped up an incredibly constructive two-day workshop in #Beirut at the French Embassy, in collaboration with the regional economic office Service économique régional de Beyrouth, to officially kick off the DebLeb project through a dedicated venture DebLabs - Decentralized Banking Protocol. This event brought together key stakeholders, including international financial institutions, banks, regulators, asset managers, microfinance institutions, and private sector representatives. The discussions were insightful, and the strong interest in DebLeb reaffirmed its potential to restore trust and answer vital needs of the Lebanese financial system. A heartfelt thank you to the French Ambassador for his support and closing remarks, emphasizing the timeliness and urgency of deploying such solutions. We are excited to introduce the Tokenized Economies Institute research paper on DebLeb, a Decentralized Banking Protocol for Lebanon. This initiative addresses Lebanon's unprecedented financial crisis, which has severely undermined trust in traditional banking systems. Leveraging blockchain, the DebLeb Protocol is designed to provide an inclusive, institutional-grade DeFi solution built on robust governance. This  research  is part of Université Paris Dauphine - PSL's Fintech Chair Policy Paper Series and was made possible with the support of esteemed academic institutions: Chaire Fintech Dauphine, ReTech Center at École des Ponts Business School, and the American University of Beirut. This work addresses key challenges in the field, focusing on reducing barriers to entry and integrating open, composable architectures for financial tokenization at scale. This first installment covers foundational elements for a multi-stakeholder ecosystem in tokenization, setting the stage for future industry standards.
