Proxy Server
Optimize, secure and manage network bandwidth
QNAP’s Proxy Server can greatly assist in saving bandwidth and increasing network utilization. By using a high-capacity QNAP NAS as a proxy server, online resources can be efficiently accessed with greater cost-savings and productivity, and network security can be enhanced at the same time.
Web cache for saving time and bandwidth
Using the Internet for our daily work consumes significant network resources and organizations with groups of members can generate enormous network traffic. This means more time and greater bandwidth needed for organizations to access Internet resources. Proxy Server features a web cache for improving web response time and access efficiency as multiple users utilize the limited available bandwidth. QNAP NAS offers an ideal high-capacity storage solution for Proxy Server to store cached web resources that are frequently accessed. This content can then be directly served from the NAS when other members want to access the same content, without needing to access the internet. This increases the web response time and saves bandwidth in return. Over time, the productivity gains can be significant!
Note: The cache function is not supported for HTTPS-based web requests.
Define access rules for additional security
Proxy Server supports flexible access controls for classifying incoming client connections and access rights for Internet resources. For instance, organizations can implement access controls to block bandwidth-intensive websites and certain websites during office hours. The function is also useful for parents to shield youngsters from inappropriate materials on the Internet.
Safeguard web delivery with SquidClamav
SquidClamav * antivirus is available in Proxy Server to ensure web connection security and data protection. SquidClamav scans all HTTP traffic through Proxy Server, and effectively protects your data from virus threats and malicious attacks.
*SquidClamav only supports the TS-531P, TS-x31+ series and all Intel-x86 and AMD-x86 models. It must be used with the system's Clamav database.
Combine Proxy Server and VPN Services for Internet activities
Proxy Server can work in conjunction with VPN server/client services to build a secure and flexible network environment for wider application scenarios. For example, a QNAP NAS located in a company's headquarters can be deployed as a VPN server for allowing members in branch offices (via a QNAP NAS as a VPN client) to easily access stored data through an encrypted tunnel, improving group collaboration and productivity. Meanwhile, the VPN client NAS can also serve as a proxy server for organizations to enjoy all the proxy functionalities such as caching, access control and SquidClamav protection. Furthermore, with the support of user access management for the VPN server, administrators in the headquarters can determine user access rights for the VPN client to ensure data security.
Easy management with the refined user interface
Proxy Server features a user-friendly management interface that makes setting up a proxy server hassle free, even for less-experienced users. With all the functionalities well-categorized and easy to follow, you will enjoy a more intuitive setup experience based on your needs.
