'Centre Has Thrown Me Out Of CM Residence For Second Time In 3 Months': Claims Delhi CM Atishi
Delhi CM Atishi has accused the Centre of evicting her from her allotted residence for the second time in three months, just a day before the announcement of Delhi's election schedule. She alleges that the move is politically motivated, aimed at undermining her leadership.

Delhi: The Delhi Chief Minister Atishi has raised serious allegations against the central government, accusing them of intentionally cancelling her allotment for a residence just days before the announcement of the upcoming elections. Atishi claims that this is the second time in just three months that the central government has “thrown” her and her family out of their official residence, calling it a politically motivated action aimed at hindering her work.
According to Delhi CM, the Delhi Public Works Department (PWD) has withdrawn its offer of Bungalow No. 6 at Flag Staff Road to Atishi. The offer, initially made on October 11, 2024, had been accepted by the Chief Minister’s representative on October 23, 2024, but she never physically took possession of the property. Despite several communications and inspections, Atishi did not move into the bungalow, leading to the PWD’s decision to rescind the allotment.
Key Factors Behind the Withdrawal
The PWD cited several reasons for the cancellation. One of the primary reasons was the ongoing CBI investigation and the CAG special audit into the bungalow, which was found to be in "very good and habitable condition" after inspections in December 2024. The PWD maintained control of the property, including possession of the keys and daily maintenance, while the Chief Minister's office did not take physical possession.
Additionally, the bungalow, which falls under the General Pool category, was not a designated residence for the Chief Minister, making it subject to different provisions. According to the rules, an allotment is automatically cancelled if the designated official does not take physical possession within five working days of the Habitability Certificate's issuance.
Atishi’s Strong Allegations
Reacting to the decision, Atishi claimed that the central government had “thrown me out of my house” once again, calling it the second time in just three months. In an emotional statement, she said, “This is the second time in three months that the central government threw me out.”
Referring to her earlier eviction from another residence, Atishi added, “Earlier also, they threw me and my family out of the house. I am thrown out of CM residence.”
In her remarks, she also promised to continue working tirelessly for the women of Delhi, despite these setbacks: “I pledge every woman of Delhi will get 2200. The more you trouble, the more we work.”
What’s Next for Atishi?
Following the cancellation, the PWD has offered Atishi alternative residences, including Bungalow No. 2 at 8 Raj Niwas Lane in Civil Lines and Bungalow No. 115 at Ansari Road in Daryaganj. A separate offer letter will be issued for the new properties.
The timing of the cancellation, just before the announcement of the Delhi elections, has added fuel to the political controversy, with Atishi and her supporters accusing the central government of political interference. The ongoing dispute over her residence is bound to remain a key issue in the run-up to the elections.
