Whitby
|0.16km from city centerIf you *love* loud house parties and drunk people—this is your place! The smell of fresh paint just *barely* covers up the reek of cigarette smoke wafting in the open windows. On the plus side, there’s a busy street right outside and no parking. If you simply have to stay in the heart of Whitby, you probably could do worse, but you’d pay a lot less than £125 night. The room is nice enough, clean and fairly well-appointed. But you’ll be trying to sleep over a very noisy bar that appears to be very popular with the gauntlet of smokers you’ll have drag your bags through to check-in. Caveat Emptor: I am a woman travelling alone and I really didn’t feel the access to guest rooms was sufficiently secure. The only reason I stayed after realising that guest security wasn’t a priority is that I’d pre-paid.

|0.3km from city centerWe enjoyed a wonderful meal here last night. We both had the chicken Kiev parmesan. It was presented beautifully, and it was delicious! It came with fries, salad, coleslaw and garlic mayo. I think it was Kirsty who served us, she was lovely, as was the barmaid and the young man who brought our cutlery. The pub seemed to have a mix of locals and tourists and all seemed to be treated the same . I ended up getting a little box as I couldn't finish it all ! Great place, great value for money and great food Thankyou

|11.37km from city centerCosy pub/ restaurant with rooms. Nice situation. Quaint. I liked the ambience, it was nice that the antiquated old decor remained it gave the place authentic charm. Lovely outdoor garden. Easy access to Whitby and surrounding walking routes.
I enjoyed the coffee and tea in our bedroom. There was a lovely platter of bread cheese and cake awaiting us on arrival

|1.57km from city centerThough a bit remote, Raithwaite Sandsend provided a relaxing getaway from the hustle and bustle of larger cities. Sandsend and Whitby are within walking distance (though the latter is a good 30 minute walk; a taxi is best). Several seaside paths are within 15 minutes of the hotel. The hotel grounds are lovely as is the staff who were very polite and friendly. All meals we ate the hotel were excellent. I enjoyed the common areas with various types of seating, games and fireplaces. The bar lacks character and warmth, unlike most other areas of the hotel. If the seating and decor is changed, I suspect it would make a world of difference.

|0.4km from city center'Victorian Seaside Fun' perfectly captures the vibe of La Rosa! Such a beautifully detailed and quirky gem, brimming with character and soul. You're immersed in their eclectic collection of antiques and oddities as soon as you step off the pavement. Everywhere you look, there's something interesting to see, read, explore, and enjoy. The cocktail library is such a treat, too. We felt truly spoiled having such a cool and cozy bar just downstairs! The music was always on point 👌🏻 Now, the rooms... I've never been so reluctant to leave a hotel room. We stayed in 'Stoker' on our first night, and 'La Rosa' on our second... We were only supposed to stay one night, but fell in love with the hotel and had to stay another night! Both rooms are dreamy. The beds are crazy comfortable. The views of the sea and the Abbey were so special. The large bathtubs and complimentary bubble bath were a very welcome touch... The water was hot, and the bubbles were big. What more could you ask for? And yes, two people will fit in them 😁 The staff were every much as part of the charm. Everyone we spoke to was friendly, personable, and relaxed. We were well taken care of and made to feel right at home, without being unnecessarily fussed over or interrupted. It felt like the staff immediately understood what we wanted from our stay and delivered it seamlessly. Just perfect! Needless to say, we loved everything about this hotel and can't wait to visit again. Thank you, La Rosa, for making our stay in Whitby so special! 🥰

Whitby
|0.89km from city centerVery rare do you give 5 point reviews. This place shows up a lot of 4 / 5 star hotels. All the good: Location - 2 minutes walk from the sea, 10 minutes walk to the centre. Staff - A courtesy call 24 hours prior to arrival to ensure everything was ok. They were spot on throughout. Parking - Available outside the hotel at a cost of under £5 for 24 hours. That is a bargain nowadays. Hotel & rooms - Everything was immaculate and everywhere within the hotel was clean, tidy and felt fresh. The room was a good size and it felt cosy. The dining room both appearance and the service from the staff was by fare above and beyond 3 star quality. The bar was available and the draft beers were of a good taste. Breakfast - Very good. Complemented by the service. 1 point minor point which doesn’t alter how good it was - If I was staying more than 1 night a small mini fridge in the room would of been ideal for keeping drinks cold on hot days. Verdict - If I returned to Whitby again I would not bother tying anywhere else. It had everything required and it was above the standard that I was expecting. I initially thought it was expensive for a 1 night stay, however I was not disappointed and it was value for money.

|2.48km from city centerNo checking desk so you just have to ask at the Bar, pillows weren’t to my liking but that’s my personal preference. Otherwise great place to stay staff were friendly and helpful and the place was clean food and drink were good and the room was really nice but no view. 5 minutes by car down to the front or jump on the bus opposite really enjoyed our stay. What I did like was the bike station out side to repair or work on your cycle 🚲 including pumping your tyres

Whitby
|10.08km from city centerFelt like a local. From point of booking to saying goodbye, we were made to feel like valued regular local customers. We decided to eat here as a little break from our hotel - it got good reviews and was dog friendly (that was an understatement). Steeped in history in a quaint Yorkshire village, I felt like I was on the set of a TV show, about to walk into my local for a pint. Staff were attentive and friendly. This place saves the bells and whistles and instead offers excellent value, terrific portions, and outstanding taste. I felt like I had my dinner made by grandma! You can stay the night here and I can only imagine that you will end up in a family Whattsapp group afterwards, because honestly, you are made to feel so welcome. We reluctantly left after dinner, but legitimately could have stayed all night having a few drinks and swapping stories. Gorgeous vibes. Roaring fire. Kind souls.

Whitby
|0.19km from city centerWe were advised by a friend to try out the Black Horse Inn during our visit to Whitby. It's the sort of place, that if we hadn't had a recommendation we'd probably have walked on past. It's small, there's no denying that, but we got a table in the corner of the front bar as a family were just leaving. Now for one of the really good bits. For various reasons I'm not great with large meals, my preferred dishes are Tapas type. Now, as we were in Gods Own County the lure of Yapas proved too much to resist. A good selection of beers added to the allure. We ordered Beef and Blue, Baked Yorkshire Camembert, Pork Belly, and Cheese Doorstep Toasties. Perfect for lunch for four of us, plus Nev the Kromis loved the pork belly. He also enjoyed the fuss and treats given by the landlord, a very jolly fellow. There is a slightly bigger bar at the rear of the pub which was also pretty busy. Overall a great lunch, pretty frugal and great quality.

Fyling Thorpe
|1.52km from city centerBoggle Hole hostel is a great place to stay. It’s situated in a secluded beach. It take a few minutes to walk down a steep road to get there (and walk back up again), which may be an issue for some but also filters out a massive crowd. The room (in the crow’s nest part) was modern and clean. Nothing fancy but decent enough. Tonnes of activities that can keep children busy like finding fish and ghosts around the building. And for everyone short hikes to neighbouring villages like Robin Hood’s Bay, either along the seashore when the tide is out or on a spectacular cliff walk when the tide is high. Recommended for a few nights, don’t waste time on arriving late in evening and checking out the next morning.

Good base also for exploring North York Moors generally. a nice local country pub. Room was very clean and comfortable with well stocked coffee and tea. Whitby
|0.34km from city centerThey are all girls who love to be clean. It’s good, the world cannot exist without girls. It’s just that it’s hard to find it when it’s dark. The train was delayed for the first time and I couldn’t find the way late at night. Google Navigation sucked me and went around to the other side. There was also a little fox with green eyes. It was the only one at night. Just the green eyes are dazzling, and the hair on the hair is standing on end. The next day I discovered that the road next to it was a cemetery. It's quite scary. It's easy to find at dawn.

|0.46km from city centerGood hygiene, beautiful environment, facing the cliff and the sea. The facilities are old, the elevator is broken, and you have to carry your luggage up the stairs to the third floor. The room is not soundproof, and the footsteps of people passing by in the corridor are loud and resonant.

|0.34km from city centerBooked a large table for family celebration ( and also a couple of rooms). We all grew up in local area and this pub where my parents has their wedding reception in 1967! Food was absolutely wonderful and cooked fresh. Have visited many tomes before and was not disappointed - thanks Plough for making our celebration memorable.

A stone throw away from the sea front and short 10/15 min beautiful coastal walk to centre. Clean, tidy and amazing hosts whom were very attentive and most helpful. Hot Breakfast was really tasty and also cold breakfast bar available.Very accommodating to my vegetarian needs. Helpful in giving pointers as to places of interest. Felt extremely safe as a lone traveller. Thank you.

|0.53km from city centerA great little guesthouse in an idyllic location. Wonderfully friendly owners greet you when you arrive, and explain everything perfectly. A parking voucher is available, for a small fee, allowing very close parking (at least in October). Give yourself a little bit of preparation to tackle the stairs if you are on the top floors. Breakfast was superb, a great choice on offer. The room I had was of a very good size, perfectly clean, with all the facilities you would need. My only tiny gripe was that the electrics in the room were a little inconsistent. I would definitely recommend this hotel, certainly served me well, and if I return to Whitby would happily stay here again.

Whitby
|0.17km from city centerThe house on the photo is both a pub and a hotel. It is translated as ”White Horse and Lion Beast” and we stay here. When I left the store, I took this booklet at the bar, knowing that it was the place where Captain Cook recruited sailors more than 200 years ago. A few years ago, I went to Mount Cook, the highest peak in New Zealand. Now I fly over half of the earth to the hometown of the explorer who first landed in New Zealand. Unintentionally, history is connected at the foot.
